Re: Adelman wants a "very aggressive" off season
he played point guard in summer league i think 2 years ago and was beyond awful against scrubs...had i think 2-3 times more turnovers than assists and just played terrible....if he becomes a "point guard" it will just be in the form of a guy who brings the ball over half court and then passes, then stands in corner or spots up imo.

Gay and Mayo ... I try to look at which of these two could turn it around and it hard to tell. Mayo has some defensive abilities, but him concluding that he needs the ball in his hands more is alarming to say the least. I thought he would mature and evolve into a reliable NBA starter, but he just has too much ego ... I think he wants to try and keep pace with Rose. Gay, just like Beasley, needs to be on a team with more veterans and a coach to help him understand red light/green light (bad shots/good shots).
If i had to pick between these two, I would roll with OJ ... even if he can't play PG, he still improves our ball-handling and could play some combo-guard with Lee while the Rube chills and recovers.
LR, JB
OJ, Lee

Really? I would take Gay over Mayo in a heartbeat. Mayo is seriously overrated on this board.

yeah wow, no way in hell I'd rather have Mayo then Rudy Gay.. Gay's problem was that he was forced to be a #1 guy when he really should be a #2. I'd trade for him in a heartbeat. Gay-Love would own.

I think it's worked out pretty well for them.

Re: Adelman wants a "very aggressive" off season
Wonder if Atlanta would consider something like Darko for Marvin Williams? They need a solid center to give Horford a break there and could roll with a 3 man rotation of Smith/Horford/Darko...and Marvin is someone who is average at SF.
15.8 PER / 10 points / 5 rebounds / on 43 / 49 / 79, low turnovers.
I'd like to get something better(Iggy/Gay/Granger) or try to sign a free agent, but just throwing things out since it's slow.

Re: Adelman wants a "very aggressive" off season
Would you guys do:
Dorrell Wright + #7 for D-Will + #18 + filler
or
Tayshaun Prince + #9 for D-Will + #18 + filler
Or do you think those teams would do that?

I'd do the Dorrell Wright + 7 deal but I don't know why we need to add filler.

I have no idea either, I guess since I did the Tayshaun Prince trade first in the checker and we needed filler, I just assumed we might need filler for Wright. SMH @ me

No way I'd add in the 18 in any of those deals. Wright + 7 for Williams would be great if the player we wanted was there. I'm sure Beal will go top 5 so it's possible if we got that 7th pick we can move up with the 18.

I wouldn't do either of those. Prince would be nice, but that's a steep price to pay for him IMO. I don't see us adding another rookie to the team.

Re: Adelman wants a "very aggressive" off season
I've said it before, I think two reasonably cheap targets that could be paired together are Ariza and Kevin Martin.
We have a number of guys in the 4-5 mil range that could be combined to make it work. I think #18 would also be reasonable enough to include for Martin.
For example: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=6m79jqt (with #18 to HOU)
This leaves us with a solid starting 5 of Rubio/Martin/Ariza/Love/Pekovic with Ridnour and Williams able to come off the bench.
I know people will balk at including 18 in the deal, but I don't see it as an extremely valuable asset that some are making it out to be.
An 8 game improvement puts us at 2 games behind the 8th seed, and thats without factoring in our late season drop-off.

i'm not sure either team would be interested in that package and i wouldn't give up the #18 unless martin was extended. new orleans would only save about 700k on their cap space next year though could save a bit for the owner if darko is bought out, so i strongly doubt they do that. houston might do it but i could see another team bidding higher than that. if we could get those two guys for those scraps it would be incredible value and incredible fit.

Martin, okay. Pass on Ariza unless NOH is giving us something to take his contract. [edit: like take on Darko -- though I'm not sure if they would do that].

I really don't think Ariza's that overpaid. In Houston and New Orleans, he was basically asked to be a number one scorer. That led to his poor shot selection, which led to his poor percentages.
Look at his numbers with and without Eric Gordon, as an example:
With Gordon (4 games, 3-1 record): 9.5 ppg on 16-29 shooting (55.2%)
Without Gordon (37 games, 9-28 record): 10.9 ppg on 152-374 shooting (40.6%)
Pair him with someone like Martin, and Ariza looks like a much better player. It allows him to focus primarily on defense, which is by far his biggest strength.

Sample size with Gordon. Look at his numbers playing with Martin. He was still a ~ 3 WS per year player.

Ariza's points decreased from 15 ppg to 13 ppg, but shooting percentage increased from 38% to 43% when Houston traded for Martin.

I'd be fine with Ariza! If we got Kevin Martin too, Ariza would be what, the 4th option?? I think the duo would be acceptable. It still seems like a lot of name value though so it seems unlikely, but I remain hopeful!

Re: Adelman wants a "very aggressive" off season
"The first good offer we get, we're going with that," Bouna Ndiaye of Comsport Management told CSNNW.com. "We're not waiting for anything."
Trail Blazers' acting general manager, Chad Buchanan, wouldn't disclose if he has asked Batum's agent to hold off on signing an offer sheet promptly from another team in order to give them time to improve their roster via free agency.
http://www.csnnw.com/pages/landingblaze ... eedID=5212
swiped this from the Blazer's board.
A lot of their fans are saying that if he gets a 9-10m per offer he's not worth it and some even want them to sign a PG(dragic) while drafting a new SF.
Have to think Kahn goes hard after Batum with how much he's tried to get him in the past.
