Re: Official NBA Playoffs Thread
arguably in today's zone-friendlier environment 4-on-5 might turn the corner from ridiculous to mere gimmick. however, i think with the importance of the corner 3 keeping defenders honest, the ease with which that guards are getting into the paint, and a dearth of half-decent outlet throwers, most teams can't even count on fast break points to be a viable system much less cherrypicking

Re: Official NBA Playoffs Thread
The Heat's cryptonite continues to be their half-court offense. They're really missing Bosh out there to take pressure of Wade and James when their outside shots aren't falling with consistency.
Lebron already with 3 shots from beyond the arch. It's situations like this where Lebron should try to work on the blocks.

Frustrating watching this Heat/Pacer game, once-again the game and lead are slipping-away from the Pacers, they need some back-court fire.

Re: Official NBA Playoffs Thread
Nice co-production on that loss. James choking from the free-throw line and Wade with the missed layup.

Re: Official NBA Playoffs Thread
Indiana Pacers win in Miami. Pacers went on an 18-3 run in the 3rd and held on for the W.
LeBron James is 10-17 (59%) from FT line in final minute (4th quarter or OT) of 1-possession games this year; rest of Heat are 13-15 (87%).
Dwayne Wade had a flagrant on Darren Collison after Wade didn't get a call on Dhantay Jones going up and down to disrupt his shot. The Heat are always looking for the calls esp at home and not taking the shots that are there. Just barreling your way into the lane for a call isn't going to work against a fundamentally sound defensive squad like the Pacers.
The loss of Chris Bosh was felt as the Heat bigs couldn't make much. They're now 4-6 without Bosh this year.

Always good to see Lebron choke. Never gets old.

Re: Official NBA Playoffs Thread
I've never really liked Wade because of what he did to Rondo last year and Kobe in the AS game this year, but I lost of respect for him tonight after he pulled that $hit. Downright dirty player and pussy ass bitch.
EDIT: For those of you that don't know what I'm talking about:

That warrants a suspension, but he won't get one.

Re: Official NBA Playoffs Thread
That just might get upgraded to a flagrant 2, 7DD.
No one expects Wade to get suspended, but I don't think there is any question that what Wade did was unsportsmanlike, excessive, quite deliberate by his own admission, and it could have resulted in injury to Darren Collison.
Wade definitely should be suspended for that hit.

Suspensions are just as much as result of the media starting to ask the question. They won't in this case so Stern and Co. can sweep it under the rug. Wade is dirty and seems like one of those guys that can't take it when he gets embarassed in public. His foul of Rondo, his foul on Kobe, his flagrant on Rip (which would have resulted in an ejection), his flagrant tonight, the celebrating v. Dallas, the mocking Dirk in the Finals, and wanting to be paid for the Olympics all show his true colors. Add to that how much he complains to officials and I just don't see how anyone can be a fan. He plays with a sense of entitlement and I love to see when he gets shut up.

Wade really is a biatch the way he is always flopping/begging for calls. It will be poetic justice if he gets suspended. That hit was similar to what Jason Smith did to Griffin.
A few years ago i actually liked Wade and Lebron. Funny how things change..

If Wade doesn't get a Flagrant 2 for that, then it's time for one of Indy's scrub big men to clothesline him the next time he drives the lane. Let Stern know that if he isn't going to police the game, then Indy will have to do it themselves.

Re: Official NBA Playoffs Thread
Yeah, that was a **** play by Wade. He was pissed at the non-call at the other end, so he hit the little guy in the back. ****.
More interesting to me is the problem Miami is having on offense. Their screen/roll stuff isn't working with Bosh out. I think the problem is using Joel Clark and other non-threats as the screener. Indy can (and is) just laying back and waiting for Lebron or Wade to make a move. I love Indy's strategy of letting those guys take as many free throw line runners as they want.
If I had Spoelstra's ear, I'd suggest using different screeners. Try using Lebron to set screens for Wade. They'll have to guard Lebron on the roll. Also, use Battier or Miller as the screener in a pick & pop set. Those guys can roll to the 3pt line and they MUST be guarded there.
I'd also try a small-ball lineup of Wade-Chalmers-Miller-Battier-Lebron. Offensive threats at every position. It'd be a bitch for Indy to stay big and defend these guys. Use Lebron on Hibbert.
Other than Hibbert, Indy doesn't have overwhelming size. A small-ball lineup like this might be able to push the tempo to a point that Hibbert would struggle to keep up.

Miami's bigs are really inept just rolling to the basket in the pick n roll - much less being a threat to shoot outside. I concur - start Lebron as a point center and Battier at PF.

It would be an interesting strategy. Hibbert would pretty much score at will in the post because even the double team help would have no realistic chance of altering his shot. On the other hand, Hibbert would have to guard somebody, and whoever that is, would pretty much have wide open 3-point looks.

Re: Official NBA Playoffs Thread
Lebron doesn't seem thrilled with playing the 4. I doubt they play him against Hibbert.
LeBron James is playing more minutes at power forward due to the injury to Chris Bosh.
James admitted before Game 2 that significant minutes at the position takes its toll on him physically.
“It’s a lot more taxing being in there with bigger guys,” James said. Defensively “is the biggest difference. When you’re on the perimeter, there’s more space. The interior is more cramped and physical. … But I’m ready for the challenge.”
James also said that he has played more positions this season than any of his seven with the Cavaliers.

I was shocked to notice that Miller wasn't on the court for MIA's final
possession. He's the guy I fear as a HeatHater in that situation.

Re: Official NBA Playoffs Thread
Wade's flagrant will stand as called.
http://espn.go.com/nba/conversations/_/ ... grant-foul
Personally, after seeing what he did to Kobe, Rondo, and Collison; Dwayne Wade is the first NBA player that I hope gets the same thing he's been dishing out.
I don't want him to be hurt seriously, but if ever a player deserved some cracked ribs or a broken nose, it is Dwayne Wade. He and Bynum need to be on the receiving end IMO.
