Our 3 point shooting is killing us.

Post#1 » by Heatallica » Wed May 16, 2012 3:17 pm

This is the #1 problem with our team right now. Lack of bench scoring is another but I refer back to the 3 point shooting. We need scoring to come from Chalmers, Battie, Miller and Jones. The big problem is that the scoring punch they provide is typically 3 point shooting. I can't remember us struggling this bad in the past with the 3 ball. We managed game 1 going 0 for and in game 2 we only hit one 3 pointer. Sort of ironic that an open three was missed by Chalmers at the end to tie the game. I had no confidence that shot was going in. Spread that floor with the 3 ball, we better pray it starts dropping.

It comes down to penetrating the ball, and keep moving the ball around.

But we play too much ISO ball with James/Wade and other just standing around the 3pt line.

It's easy to defend and close out on 3 pointers when our offense has no movement.

I blame this 60% on the coach and 40% on players.

60% on coach because he just can't get the talent on some of our role players and not enough half court set plays that involves a lot of screens and movement.

40% on players because our players aren't just good enough.. nuff said. our 3 point specialists are very one dimensional. JJ/MM/Batteir may shoot well (well not anymore...) but they can't pump fake a 3/penetrate and kick it out. They're very slow, old, has no hops, just very unathletic lets put it that way.

You see guys like Harden/Ginobili/guys on Denver roster who can shoot 3s but also can penetrate and draw fouls/kick it out etc etc.

Too bad we only have 2 guys that can penetrate who are wade and james.

Also another solution that could fix this problem is..

IF we had a dominant big men, like Bynum who can pass the ball out of post who also draws double teams.... a big men who is a scoring threat in the paint could pass the ball out of post when double teamed, and we could swing the ball around, for a wide open 3pter. you know? we dont ever see that when we're playing. Bosh could be that guy, but he isn't just that guy.

I mean idk man... idk... im honestly hoping for a miracle for us to win it all this year man.

I think we'll still win it. I think it's going to be Rio who is the one who breaks out in game 3. Remember tonight he couldn't even stay on the floor because the refs called fouls on him every 2 seconds.

The thing we need to do better on the Pacers is get out and run. I wonder if we'll see Cole back in the rotation, just to push the pace some more with that second unit?

I also don't get why Spo has so throroughly complicated the Lebron/Wade rotation.

Here's how it should go:
1st half:
Lebron plays the whole 1st quarter. Wade rests the last few minutes of.
Wade plays entire second quarter. Lebron rests the front half of it.

2nd Half(and here's where he needs to make the change):
Wade plays the entire 3rd quarter. Lebron rests the last 3 minutes of it.
Lebron plays the entire 4th quarter. Wade rests the front 3-4 minutes.

Of the two, Wade is the one who is most able to come in and make an impact in the final 6 minutes. Plus it seems like our coach has decided to give Wade the ball the final two minutes anways.

So if you give Lebron the front half of the fourth to make an impact, you give him a chance to be in a rhythm for the last half of the fourth where Wade takes over.

It's a subtle but easy fix.

I also think Lebron should start the game at center.
