Why do the Heat play so slow?

Post#1 » by ecnirp » Thu May 17, 2012 2:01 am

Its just a different brand of basketball in the West. Of course better coaching/better execution.

But why do the Heat not run more. Why doesnt DWADE or LeBron, even when its not a fast break opportunity cross half court and do a pull up jumper?

Its clear the other guys arent going to score. So why not have LeBron and Wade in attack mode from the beginning of the game.

I could see if the Heat had this excellent half court offense and the ability to create movement. But its just dribble, dribble, simplistic basketball anyway. Why not be a up and down team?

This is the east. Teams arent going to score a great deal anyway. Why not pick up the pace and put up the points.

I'd rather have to start playing lock down defense in the 4th, than trying to dig a way out of a hole on offense, again and again and again.

Running more doesn't help your defense (you get tired)

THat's how SPO feels about it.

When we were scoring more, our defense wasn't that good. Heat were developing bad habits
Stop being so disrespectful.

Yes, rebounding is one thing

and also when its playoffs, the game slows dow, defense intensity is higher, scouting, etc etc...

and we just suck besides lebron/wade.

and we're not even the most athletic/fastest transition team in the league.. its only lebron/wade that make us look like it. There are more balanced athletic teams than us.

and also running is more about personnels, outside of wade and james i cant think of someone sprinting after a miss. ugh.

I'm listening to a sports radio show rite now and the guy came out wut an info that

spurs only ran 24 ISOlation plays total against the jazz in a 4 game series.

compare that to us. lol...

when i see the spurs play, their ball movement is crisp and their bench steps up.

greg pop is a greatttt coach

spo is a coach who has no x's n o's, and thinks its all about mental toughness, holding onto the rope and riding on wade/bron iso.

i think cole would be fair but still cant finish consistently. i dont know about chalmers running, he always been the one who throw perfect passes on lbj/wade on the break.

LeBron I believe leads the league in transition points, which isn't surprising.

We play slow because we have no half court set and no offense. THere is no movement, thus being slow. We can't even play a half-court game if we wanted. We use to, but not anymore. This team's offense has gone to shambles.

Before we were all about pushing the ball and stuff. Meh, this isn't football, this is basketball and that type of thing, even with a shorten seasoned, can take a toll on players.

Rebounding is why we don't run. That in the eastern conference every team pretty much slows the ball way down and plays the whole shotclock so it sets a slower tempo for the game, and makes it more difficult to run.

In the west, they run out of the nets. Both teams.

Just the way the Eastern Conference has always been and always will be. Can't think of the last ECF champion who ran. Probably no one since the 80s.
