The Sacramento Kings are my second favorite team and i hate to see them stuck with a bunch of players that just play and don't really have any structure to them. The kings need a reboot and it's sad because i thought they had some nice draft picks but they don't really mesh together. So i developed this plan and all i really want is your guys' opinion on whether these trade scenarios would work but you guys are free to develop your own methods to fixing the kings as well.
1.) Get a new coach, easier said than done but smart just isn't a guy that can garner a lot of respect from these young guys. Bring in a guy with good track record and help give these players structure and discipline. This team also needs to build an identity, take the best guy available in Nate Mcmillan.
2.) The mysterious Tyreke Evans. Is he a 1, a 2, or a 3. Hell if I know, all I know is that the kid can't shoot and if you want to be a successful wing you have to be able to shoot the ball. Tyreke is oozing with potential but can he be a reliable option at the 2. Best thing to do now is to give him one final shot, let a coach see what he can do and give him a position that is set in stone. Don't move him around all season, give him a role and let him grow into it.
3.) Demarcus Cousins is the building block for the kings. He is their franchise player and as long as he keeps his head straight, he will be one of the best players in the league. The guy garners so much attention in the post that you need to have a team built around that. Primarily this means shooters.
4.)As much as Isiah Thomas was a steal at #60, Kings fans can't really think he is the answer for them right? Thomas is a scoring guard and when you have a center like Cousins, you need a guy that can distribute the ball and make players better.
5.) Make an attempt to sign Dragic. Guy can shoot and penetrate. Kings have a lot cap-space so they should be a heavy favorite to sign him.
6.) Remember i brought up shooters, who better to come off the bench than Steve Novak. Knicks won't be able to re-sign him, so if the kings make some changes and try to build up a winning mentality, novak is the perfect player for them.
7.) Kings have their low-post presence, now they need a shot blocker. Anthony Davis is the best but right behind him is John Henson. Kings wouldn't dare taking Henson at 5, so maybe they need to move down a few spots and get back some value. In this trade Kings trade #5 and salmons for #9 and tayshaun prince. They clear a bad contract and get a nice sf veteran to help be a leader in the lockeroom.
8.) Jimmer Fredete........is it confidence, the system....I don't really know but the kings really have no use for him. Move him for whatever you can at this point. Maybe package him and jason thompson to the Utah Jazz for Paul Millsap. Not sure if the jazz do it, but they just might.
9.)The final product
Goran Dragic/Isaiah Thomas
Tyreke Evans/Marcus Thornton
Tayshaun Prince/Steve Novak
John Henson/Paul Millsap
Demarcus Cousins/Chuck Hayes
I think this is a legit playoff team. What do you guys think, is this a realistic off-season for the kings or is this just nonsense? Thanks for reading if you actually manage to get through it.

1) You have to bring him back if your the Kings and if you don't it better be a HOF coach walking through that door. Not that there aren't better options but give him a training camp at the very least, he most definitely deserves it.
2) The problem is that this team has a "better" 2 already. If Evans is the SG yet his main asset is his ball handling and penetration, he's still your PG despite what anyone thinks since his role is based around things a PG will do. Thornton is a pure SG with very few gaps in his skill set. I think benching him is about the worst idea you can have and no matter what, the roles aren't in any way changed because you bring him off the bench, they are what they are.
3) Yep, and they seem to realize what's needed, Petrie has already set his sights on shooting and shot blocking. Now this is Geoff Petrie so that might mean a shiny new 3 year MLE deal for Mikki Moore, we'll see.
4) Love Thomas but I hope not. Maybe the way the ROY voting worked out knocked some of the delusion out of their heads. Although I do think he got robbed, he should have been at least top 3 in that vote.
5) I could see them going after a player like him.
6) I don't think too many would be excited to see the Kings go after a player like him. Nice shooter, but no thanks.
7) Was totally for the Kings going after Prince in free agency, but not so sure anymore. Also giving up Salmons sounds like a good thing until you realize that he can still be amnestied so holding onto him is probably a better idea. Henson at 5 doesn't seem like such a stretch to me anymore. This draft is iffy after pick 1. I think teams could go for need in this draft for that very reason. Just have to hope if the Kings do move down, they don't pick up a Salmons in the deal, because they won't be able to wipe that mistake away like they can with Salmons.
8) This is what is so mind boggling about the whole thing, he was brought in to be a shooter, yet, played most his minutes in this teams sub par and awkward pick and roll game. How hard is it to stick a guy at the corner 3 and say, "stay there and shoot when it comes to you!". I can understand development and teaching Jimmer to play PG will be the best thing for him long term, but you eventually have to find a role and they will eventually realize whether it be forced on them through failure or just because it's so damned obvious that his best asset for a team is his SHOOTING.
9) Not a bad unit at all. Still kind of want to see the name Kirk Hinrich at PG though, or anyone else noted for their defense who can also spot shoot. Don't see that Millsap deal going down nor do I see him backing up anyone at this point in his career. Don't like Marcus Thornton off the bench because I just don't see a role for him as a spark plug where a bench unit is centered around him. He's just too much of an in the flow of the game kind of player. He can go an entire quarter where you forget he's even out there and just explode when the game is on the line. He's too rhythm based as a player which is good for a starter, you don't want him being a player expected to produce quickly because that takes him out of his element and in the past when used that way his production stayed relative to his per minute numbers which looked like a lack of production when it was really more a lack of minutes and attempts. When forcing action in short minutes he's just not the same.

I like that plan. Playoff team for sure. Calderon also makes sense at pg.

I like it except I Henson would be coming off the bench not Milsap which means our starting front court still lacks shot blockers =/

Re: my plan to fix kings
As long as you have a shotblocking option I don't think they have to start. Millsap is a good positional defender which can be more important for a team in particular at the start of a game than shotblocking. Shotblocking involves a degree of timing and has more impact as a game goes on and players get tired, or frustrated and try and get easy stuff at the rim. If this team can have an option like Keon Clark was back in the day, they should be good. If they have Whiteside and maybe a player in between his ability as a shotblocker (because we started to see this year in spurts, he's certainly going to be prolific) and being a knowledgeable defender (because we also saw he's far from that yet) even better for this team.
