Trail Blazers' acting general manager, Chad Buchanan, wouldn't disclose if he has asked Batum's agent to hold off on signing an offer sheet promptly from another team in order to give them time to improve their roster via free agency.

swiped this from the Blazer's board.

A lot of their fans are saying that if he gets a 9-10m per offer he's not worth it and some even want them to sign a PG(dragic) while drafting a new SF.

Have to think Kahn goes hard after Batum with how much he's tried to get him in the past.

He's not worth $9-10m but he will get that anyway. $9m is about as high as I would go for his services.

I would offer him a similar deal to Gallinari. Gallo is a better player IMO(good defense and more of a #1-#2 option potential), but we have to scare off Portland from matching...and if they match stick them with a bigger contract for a roleplayer.

Just in case people don't know Gallo's contract. 4 years, $46m

$9,439,000 $10,146,925 $10,854,850 $11,559,225

I don't know if that's screwing up. If we get him, I won't complain no matter what we paid him.

Batum is the perfect player for this team. Overpaying someone like a PF C or PG would piss me off. But literally overpaying for a guy that is perfect for this team is fine by me.

Igoudala is a better fit than Batum, even if Iggy he has an off night offensively he can make up for it with his defense the same cant be said about Batum.

Batum's supposed to be good defensively isn't he? And we don't have to trade anything to get Batum.

I've read that Blazers would pay 7-8 for him. I'm thinking getting him somewhere between 9-11 mil would settle it. Also, I think the draft will play an important role with their plan. If they draft MKG/Barnes, then it's safe to assume they'll accept him leaving for that kind of money. If they draft Beal, then that would give me the signal at least that Batum will be a keeper.

Iguodala costs 4 million more a year at least and will produce near identical stats. Actually Batum would produce better stats since he could shoot the three at 40% while iguodala 33%.

Plus Iggy is more ball dominat, older, not a very good shooter(career wise, not just this year). Batum isn't an elite defender on the ball, but still good and a great team defender(blocks/steals).

I see Danny Green as a good fall back for Batum. Green isn't a playmaker, but can play the 2 or 3, can defend the other team's best player, and hit the corner three. If Batum is $10-12M, Green for $4-5M might make more sense.

It seems Adelman mostly wants a wing that can create off the bounce and run the pick and roll. That's not Batum or Green.

Actually, I think Batum can play that role. Portland just hasn't been using him that way very much

definitely agree...he's a ball handling beast in international play, he plays like a young grant hill there. i think he can handle a bigger role in the nba.

I think so too, but if you're going to invest $40M and all your cap space you better be damn sure about it. The converse of forcing a player in that role and watching it blow up in our face (a la Wes Johnson, Martell Webster) is not something we can really afford to have happen.

It would be pretty sweet if we could sign Batum and then trade Williams and Darko for Evans and Hayes. That team would have lots of upside, a lot of different skill sets, and a good mix of offense and defense.

Denver Trades: Danilo Gallinari, #50

Minnesota Trades: Derrick Williams, Luke Ridnour, #18

Did you guys pick up the option on wesley johnson?

i would do it if you switched ridnour to barea otherwise no i wouldn't. i'm 100% sure we haven't not picked up any options on wes, i don't know when the timetables are to do those things. as bad as he has been i'm 99% sure we wouldn't decline him.
