Tex & A-rod's contracts may doom Yanks...

As I am watching Josh Hamilton destroy the AL, I can only think of "Cash money" and Wal-mart Hal's game plan of being fiscally responsible. Let's talk about "responsible" with the GM who gave Carl Pavano and Kei Igawa sick contracts...in spirit I understand what Brian is trying to do. I just don't believe he is a good judge of talent. Too many things have slipped under his nose and Mark Teixiera's diminishing returns along with A-rod looking more like Kevin Millar hitting wise...the back end of their contracts are part of why the Yanks cannot add top talent.

Under new collective bargaining, the luxury tax would price gouge the Yanks. Something "responsible" billionaire owner/competitors are avoiding.

Which makes me wonder...when Cashman called the Pineda deal a catastrophe, what exactly did he mean? How bad is that torn Labrum? Partial, I think he'll be ok. Total tear, for a 2 pitch pitcher... Not a good sign.

What do you say? Would you say, "to hell with this..." and throw Hamilton a blank check? The offense combined with suspect pitching behind CC has me wondering...

this is why cashman needs to be fired

the core hitters of team are getting old and they just gave away their best blue chip hitting prospect in a decade that was on for minimum salary

Arod was hanks fault, so I'll let that slide

but Texiera was a bad signing, the guy is really overrated

Let's not forget we signed Tex and won another ring. We got him more or less at market value. I don't think I need to remind anyone of the crap we were running out there at 1B before he came along (ready to retire Tino, Jason Giambi, Doug Mientkiewicz, etc.).

Right now he's Carlos Pena. In the summer hopefully he gets back into the groove and he turns back into Tex. I'm not ready to fire Cashman over making a move that netted us a ring.

Now that Pineda deal..... that's a different story....

Well their concern is the tax right? So maybe if they offer some other team to eat a large portion of Texs contract they may be able to trade him and, more importantly, shave that contract off the team salary. Then maybe they can go after Hamilton in FA.

I hear what you're saying Slamm but it's not Tex but the contract that I am scrutinizing. If a player wants that kind of money, fine. But I say, never give more than 4 yrs, TOPS especially in the fall out of the PED era, we have NO idea the true state of these players. Yea, a player may stop but how his body deteriorates is the issue right?
