Days after optioning him to Triple-A, Jays put Adam Lind on outright waivers Friday.

Hope Kenny Williams put in a claim like Rios. Hes prob done as a Jay

I doubt anyone claims him. Would be great if someone does though.

Hopefully someone picks him up, it would be tough playing in the minors for the team that waived you. Let's assume he clears waivers and has to report to Las Vegas, what happens with Cooper?

Call him up or trade is coming.

I can't believe that they're just cutting him like that. He's going to be off the 40 man and everything.

This is a really surprising development. I figured that they'd trade him but not this.

No, Lind doesn't have the right to refuse assignment and elect for free agency, you need 5 years of MLB service time for that and Lind fell a couple of months short. They're simply putting him on waivers to make room on the 40 man roster. No one's gonna claim him with all that guaranteed money left on his contract, this is a nonevent IMO

He has 0 value, thats why they are waiving him hoping someone pick up that contract. Nobody was going to give value for Lind.

Does anyone have a 2nd source confirming this?

My first reaction was: "ouch, sucks to be Lind."

Maybe they didn't want Lind to take any of Ricardo Nanita's AB's.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Seems like Lind outright waivers no lose for #jays. Team takes him and responsible for remaining $8M thru '13 or he stays Vegas not 40-man

Remember how I said Lind on outright waivers would likely not be confirmed? I just confirmed it with a very reliable source #Bluejays #jays

So will Lind still maintain his option of he resigns with another team? Or was he optioned, then waived?

I think it's possible he get's claimed. Once upon a time, the guy was a good hitter. Teams will take fliers on a guy who has shown what lind has. His salary isn't completely outrageous, especially by baseball's standards. And with the option years being team options, I could see teams taking a chance. Sometimes a change of pace and a new team is all a player needs. I think he's likely done as a Jay.

If he gets back into his groove, how difficult is it for the Jays to get him back on the 40-man?

It's not completely outrageous, but it's a significant risk to assume the contract nonetheless; if a team took him today, they would be on the hook for $12.23m in guaranteed money. That's not a small sum when we're talking about a player who has posted -1 WAR over two-and-a-quarter seasons. He'll remain a Jay, methinks.

If he gets back into his groove, how difficult is it for the Jays to get him back on the 40-man?

Not very; just need to outright someone else off the 40-man.

Lind has not been contacted yet about the waiver move.

If the Toronto Blue Jays did indeed place Adam Lind on outright waivers, it's news to him.

The first baseman, optioned down to triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday during a morning meeting with manager John Farrell and GM Alex Anthopoulos, arrived in Sin City late Saturday night trying to make sense of the club's apparent move.

On Saturday, Sportsnet's Mike Wilner confirmed a report by Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com that the Blue Jays put Lind on outright waivers, which are irrevocable, on Friday.

"I don't know if they have or if they haven't. When I had my meeting with Alex and John, they said they optioned," Lind said in an interview with sportsnet.ca. "I don't know what's true and what's not.

"But Alex in all my years with him has always been real straightforward, that's why I'm having trouble believing it, because he shoots you straight."
