Hi guys, long time lurker here, decided to make an account now that the Wiz seem to be moving in the right direction.

I want Beal on this team bad. I see him as a safe pick and someone who can contribute right away, essentially I think he could be a similar player to James Harden. Not to mention he helps fill this teams biggest need which is 3pt shooting.

Of course, if the Wiz do land the num 1 pick, they would be crazy not to select Davis, even though that would create a major log jam at pf/c. I really don't want to see any of Booker, Seriphin, or Vesely gone in a trade, but that would almost certainly have to happen.

Oh, and I really like Will Barton as a 2nd round pick.

+1, but we are Wizard fans, with our history, you expect the worst. But you are absolutely correct.

I do find it odd though, that we as Redskins fans don't have that same negativity. We expect the best and prepare for the best. Lol. Then by the end of the season when all has gone to hell, we look back and say we should have known based on A.B or C. But then turn right back around and have the same high expectations for the follow year. It's Insanity I tell you, Insanity!

Right now I'd pick Dion Waiters before I'd pick Jeremy Lamb. Waiters is a guy you can ISO and he can create good shots for himself and others. Unlike Lamb, Waiters is a high energy player. Lamb is talented and will have a role in the league but like Nick Young, Lamb is just a little too cool for school IMO.

When looking at the total list of perimeter players, my ranking differs greatly from the majority of scouts.

I think at this point it seems pretty clear what we do in the top 3. The only thinkg to decide would be if we're at 2 and we have to make the decision between Beal and MKG. I think that should come down to how much progress MKG has made on his jumpshooting by the time the combine and team workouts begin.

The question is at 4. We can reach or Barnes or Lamb but I'm just not a believer in reaching for need. I'm hoping in that scenario we take T Robinson and then work a draft day deal for Booker either for a current NBA wing or a a draft pick. Could we reach out to teams who have the rights to restricted free agents and negotiate a sign & trade involving Booker? The problem with that is making salaries match.

2003 Draft: Often lauded as one of the greatest and deepest drafts of all time.

1. LeBron James
3. Carmelo Anthony
4. Chris Bosh
5. Dwyane Wade

That draft had 2 superstars and 2 top 20ish players. These guys are multiple all-stars. What I'd consider difference makers. Four difference makers all drafted within the top 5.

When scouts say there's about 4 to 5 potential difference makers in this draft, their referring to guys that can become multiple all-stars. Davis is a potential superstar. MKG, Beal, Drummond & maybe Robinson (a stretch IMO) have top-20 ish talent. Now whether each will get to that level is a completely different story, lol.

Now in 2003 there were several other contributors. Guys that started but weren't elite level players. They may have made one all star team but generally weren't considered all-star quality talent.

So there's a massive difference between the difference of the guys at this level and the top 4 of the draft. So when you suggest trading down for Zeller, etc. To me its trading an opportunity at drafting a potential difference maker for a guy that's going to be just a solid player. Nothing more. And I think it's a mistake to take that approach considering this team's greatest need is still talent.

When you suggest there's about 7 is the norm I assume you'd be including guys from the second list above. I suspect the 2012 draft strength will be with guys in that tier below the elite and multiple all-star quality talent. Guys that will start and contribute, but aren't quite all-stars. Honestly there could be as many as 10-12 guys in 2012 that may be starters. But my stance remains that we need more than that from this draft.

Now the depth of that 2003 draft was in the role players. Guys who didn't quite measure up as starters but have stuck in the league and have been quality peformers off the bench for the most part.

Wow, the draft was incredibly deep. 29 guys that were solid contributors in the league for at least a few years. I'm not sure the 2012 draft is as deep as 2003 was.
