After reviewing Harden's candidacy, I must say that he probably should've earned the 13th slot for how good he was throughout the year, but if Westbrook continues to play the way that he has, I won't feel bad about the #13 pick for him :P.

Anyway, this is Harden!

I went with Parker.. I dont think many people are going to agree with me here, but the Spurs were the best team in the league this year and still haven't lost a playoff game this postseason.. Tim Duncan should be on this list soon too in my opinion. He's still got it.

Why isn't Duncan on the list? Or is there a maximum number of polls?

The reason why I'm not going with Parker or Nash over Harden is because the overwhelming majority of Spurs and Heat players have relatively equal usage rates.

SAS was so good not because TD, Parker, and Ginobili were just that awesome. All of the players are following the system to a tee. The Spurs took off after they acquired Captain Jack and Diaw (not because of their exceptional skills but) because they're veterans who quickly bought into the system (and for S-Jax, Pops is the only coach he really respects since he won a championship with them when he was last there).

Obviously, PHX is nowhere near as good as SAS is, but their record was a product of them maximizing skills in their system. Nash is a great facilitator for them, but I don't see him as the guy who is taking over for them, especially with his lack of scoring this year.

Gortat had a higher PER and total win share value than Nash. 6 PHX players had higher usage rates. That just shows that Nash was more of a guy just playing his part in the system rather than actually taking over as the man.

Harden, on the other hand, was ridiculously efficient.
I'm just going to list some stats of him compared to Nash and Parker:

Code: Select all

Player           MP  PER  TS% eFG% AST% TOV% USG% ORtg DRtg  WS WS/48
James Harden   1946 21.1 .660 .582 19.3 14.8 21.6  125  105 9.3  .230
Steve Nash     1961 20.3 .625 .581 53.1 27.1 19.6  115  110 5.9  .144
Tony Parker    1923 22.0 .539 .488 40.3 13.1 27.7  112  106 7.1  .177

IMO, Harden's combined astounding TS% and ORtg, along with his eFG% and Win Shares, in a system where his USG% is 10% below both Westbrook and Durant, is what puts him ahead of TP and Nash.

If Nash was more of an offensive threat like he was a few years ago, then he would obviously win, but I think out of these three Harden takes the cake.

1) I should've put Duncan instead of Gasol for sure, but Gasol provides more funny pictures and neither was going to be #14 anyway.

2) Max number is 10.

I don't believe USG% takes assists into account. Nash's USG% has never been that high, even in his prime years, because he's not a big time scorer. Doesn't mean he's not offensively dominant. He was still the key of the Suns offense.

Nash's usg% is misleading. While he ordinarily takes a small amount of shots durig a game, he literally handles the ball and calls the play in every possession. He's not like kidd and Deron that play off ball every other possession, he has to have the ball in his hands to be at his most effective. I still voted for him though.

Harden is going through the 'what have you done for me lately' phase in which everyone thinks he's a franchise player because he's beasted the past couple games. Can someone explain to me how or why he's better than Pierce? And for all of his shortcomings, Griffin is still the better player of the two. Harden is mostly effective because he plays against subs for half of the game and is the primary ball handler/first option once he gets in the game. He's being overrated right now, I wouldn't even have him in my top 20... Bosh, Griffin, J Smith, Rondo, Parker, Irving, both gasols, millsap and a handful of other players are all better right now.

i mean this is clearly true, nash is still a top five offensive player in the league, and that's being conservative. the constant probing and penetration, unmatched vision, getting teammates the ball exactly where they want and need it to succeed, the spacing he provides just by being out on the court... frankly that our board is ranking harden or westbrook over him is sort of laughable and kinda disappointing. westbrook provides none of the above, hes a scorer on a very talented team. thats it. hes a terrible, braindead lead guard and that will never change. put nash on OKC and they do as well but more likely better than with westbrook... nash would score more if needed to, or he wouldn't, he'd just make durant and ibaka and perkins and collison and harden much much more productive than they are right now. put westbrook on phoenixs roster and he looks like the talented but limited player he obviously is. and without question phoenix wins less games than us this season.

what i dont understand is why rondo isnt the CLEAR choice here, unless you guys are using some weird criteria like who is a better scorer in nba 2k12

Because he's CLEARLY not as good as a bunch of players still left.

Rondo is so overrated, my goodness. He should not only be #14, but it's CLEAR that he's better than guys like Nash, Harden, and Parker?

Rondo is like the 3rd best player on his own team. Pierce and KG are both still better.

Why would I vote for Rondo when Pierce is still an option?

Harden over Nash or Pierce makes me cry...

And the best player on the Celtics isn't even Pierce right now, it's actually KG.
