You change your approach when you get 2 strikes on you, not the entire at bat. Especially when you're down by 1 run, and you need a hit to just have a chance to extend the game longer, not a home run. I doubt very much that playoff teams go for home runs all the time just because they have 'home run hitters'.
Bautista was at the plate with a shift on him, he shortened up his swing and hit a grounder through the hole at 2nd base, it's not often you see him do that but he did because that's what the team needed.
It hurt not having Lawrie at the plate after Edwin, that could very well have been the game tying hit that we needed and the least likely to strike out.
