Do you guys want Rudy Gay?
We basically want to dump him because he ruined our chemistry from last year since he needs the ball alot, but I think he would be good with the Bobcats since he can put up major points, something the bobcats needed all season long. You would just keep him for 2 seasons and then trade him for more than what you got him for.
Basically all we want is Maggette,Augustin and fillers.

WTF good are points when you're a ball hog who ruins team chemistry? Having said that, yes I would take Rudy but you would have to take Tyrus back. You can have Maggette and DJ free of charge. We kill 3 birds with stone. I like it, plus Gay has more trade value than those 3 stiffs which helps while we're rebuilding.

Re: Do you guys want Rudy Gay?
I would insist that we hold onto Maggs/Diop just because we will need to shed their collective $18 mil in contracts off the books next offseason if we are to make a max offer to harden.
I would be willing to offer Tyrus, Carroll's expiring, a second rounder and an extended DJ for Gay.
Gay is a borderline allstar who is grossly overpaid. Tyrus Thomas is overpaid too however. We never should have traded for Thomas or signed him to that ridiculous deal. Sadly, only a few of us recognized that for the mistake it was at the time it happened while a number of posters were thrilled.
Something like this would be the least painful way to salvage value from Tyrus.
When you deduct Tyrus' contract from the equation (which we would never be able to trade under normal circumstances), it would be the same capwise as us signing Gay (had he been a FA this year) for 10mil/year for 3 seasons while keeping Thomas on the roster.
Memphis would save some money, free up shots for Gasol and Randolph, the post targets that need to be the focal point of their offense and have DJ to push MC at PG. DJ's shooting would work well with Gasol, IMO.
Assuming we're fortunate enough to draft Davis, can add Dragic in FA (would have to pass on DJW's team option) and can lure Harden with Max Dollars next 2013 offeason, we would be
Dragic / Kemba
Harden / Hendo
Gay / UPS
Davis / Biymbo
2013 6-11 range lotto center/ Mullens
If Memphis wants more for Gay, I would simply pass and stick to the rest of the plan. We can always address the SF spot elsewhere

I think my team would be willing to take on Tyrus, we had luck getting Randolph to be a better player in our system and I think Tyrus is decent insurance for Randolph or Gasol going down 20-30 games during the season with injury. If u want to keep Diop/Maggette to get Harden; that is fine with us.We however would would prefer to take Augustin as we think he would be a good sixth man off our bench since our Gilbert Arenas experiment didn't work out and we don't mind Carroll as we could use a 3 point shooter. Our main thing is keeping a somewhat young roster while trying to stay under the luxury tax. Gay is expendable to us since he have other guys to fill his point slot and there are very few teams that make sense for us to deal with besides yall.
Basically I don't think Gay works well with our team like I said, but I think with the Bobcats he could easily put up 24-26ppg and keep them from being totally at the bottom of the cellar in the East. He wouldn't be really taking shots away from your young players, he would just be filling a points slot that you didn't have last season.

you want tyrus, augustin and carroll for gay? sure OK. i am not a gay fan at all, but i'd do that deal. it doesnt really compromise our cap space too much. we'd still have diop and maggette coming off the books.

I'll say. Win Win Win situation for us! Especially if we do get the number one pick. Rudy, Hendo, and Kemba scoring with Unibrow and Biz blocking everything that comes into the paint. That is the makings of a strong team for ten years.

What team chemistry? We had no chemistry all season, we're rebuilding from the ground up. Gay has a bigger contract than he's worth, but if all we're giving up is some combination of Maggs, Augustin, Carroll, TT, White, etc., I'm good with that. Gay is pretty good. At least we'd have something resembling a go-to scorer. He'd put up 20ppg for us, no question. His dunks are fun to watch, if nothing else.

If that's all it takes, please bring Gay to charlotte!
He's overpaid, but if we get him it would only be for 3 yrs. He's not a superstar, but he on the all-star level. We welcome a player who can demand the ball here in Charlotte, since everyone on the team is offensively handicap.

Happiness. Sheer joy if this happened. I would do this deal in a second if Cho approved.

Re: Do you guys want Rudy Gay?
Gay doesn't work on a team with scoring bigs like Memphis. I watched their series very closely this year and last and can easily see the difference. It makes Gay look not so great and hurts the Grizzlies. They HAVE to run the offense through Gasol and Randolph to succeed. They would have Mayo to handle wing scoring and is more effective without Gay involved as well.
We have NOBODY who can score so we'd welcome Gay to take as many shots as he'd like. Like everyone is saying though; it would have to be done so we keep our cap flexibility to offer Harden a max deal. Pairing Harden + Gay + hoping Kemba becomes a quality PG + Drummand or Davis + Biyombo = success. Is this just a fans opinion or are there any rumblings to this at all?
I could certainly see the Bobcats doing this but not so sure Memphis is ready to abandon Gay.

Our owner has hinted that he wants to keep a winning mentality but isn't going to overpay to keep all our free agents this offseason. Getting more cap flexibility longterm since we have shown we can win better without Rudy is a heavy consideration for us since we are also a small market team. If we would have gotten to the 2nd round Rudy would probably not be on the block but we really don't NEED him if that makes sense. The Clipper series also showed we don't need OJ Mayo like we thought we did. He might be on the way out a in a sign and trade type situation. We basically want a situation like Utah has, where u can get to the playoffs and be competitive, but u have young lottery players on the bench developing at all times like they have with Kanter and Favors on 4 year rookie deals.
I think Charlotte would have to throw in a protected 1st round pick in like 2016 to seal the deal even though personally I don't think its needed since cap flexibility and reasonable contracts are more valuable than picks these days unless you are a big market team.
and also most Memphis fans would not be sad if Rudy went, so there would be no real backlash. Heck we are the same team that traded Pau who was a fan fav here along with Battier and we traded them both at their highest fan support.
We basically gave Rudy his deal because we didn't think Randolph would pan out as well as he did along with Thabeet being a huge mistake for us in the lottery. We really have no big name players to lure to Memphis, we are like Milwaukee in that regard. Charlotte with Jordan as the figurehead has a much better chance.

Where did signing Harden come from? Fellas I hate to tell you this, but Oklahoma will have plenty of capspace to resign Harden to as much money as he wants. He is getting starter's minutes even coming off the bench. I seriously doubt that he will take less money to come here just so that he can say he is a starter. As much as I would love James in Charlotte that is more of a pipe dream than Dwight Howard.

OKC, as it stands now will be looking at roughly $47 in payroll in 2013 if they renouce team options on all of their restricted FAs (meaning, for the sake of argument, they just let guys like Aldrich walk). Starting at the $47 million mark, they will need to resign both Harden and Ibaka.
Whether you agree or not, more than one team will shoot Harden max money offers ($15mil/year). Unless Harden is willing to take the hometown discount, they'll have to match.
Ibaka is also likely to get $10-$12mil per year offers from another team.
Retaining them both at that level and signing their late first round draft picks is going to put their payroll over the Luxary tax threshold and around the $75 million mark. Under the more punitive provisions of the new CBA, which go into effect in 2013, the lux tax penalty goes from $1 to $1 up to 1.5 to 1 for the first 5 mil over and 1.75 to one thereafter.
In short, if they retain them both at that level, after paying them the big $, they'll also have to cut an additional check to the league in the neighborhood of $12-$15 million

IF we get the #1 pick, then I would be all over Gay. I think Kemba/Hendo/Gay/Davis/Biz would be a good, young lineup that you could build with. I would have some concerns with Gay and Kemba playing together, but I think the right coach could sort those potential problems out.
What about a sign and trade swap of DJ for OJ Mayo (both restricted free agents). Then you do a separate (to follow NBA rules) of Maggette + Thomas + 2nd Rounder for Gay. The Griz had interest in Thomas earlier, and if he could regain form then he would fill a need for them behind Randolph. Maggette would provide depth at SF (they would need to do something but Maggette COULD fill in as a starter on an expiring) and most importantly DJ could provide them with a really good option behind Conley (not sure DJ would be down for that though).

The only positive of Rudy Gay in a Bobcats' uniform would be to piss off Raptor fans.
