The 2013 Gambit:

Gasol to Atlanta for Marvin Williams+Josh Smith
Bynum for Howard
Sign Gerald Green
Amnesty Blake
Goudelock for Aaron Brooks in a S and T

PG- Sessions, Brooks
SG- Bryant, Green
SF- MWP, Williams
PF- Smith, Hill
C- Howard

That team is athletic and stacked. I'd love to see OKC try to run their P-R on that with Howard anchoring that paint. Off the bench you have athleticism in Williams who can spread the floor from the 3 or play as a stretch 4. You have a smaller mobile C if you want. You have a speed PG that can create off the P and R. You have scoring off the bench.

Ready for a rematch.

I respect you as a poster bro but your fascination with Marvin Williams is beyond me.

trading away Smith and Williams leaves them thin at the frontcourt. Gasol/Horford at the 4 and 5. outside of the 2 who will play back-up 4? or do they gamble on Pachulia so that Pau and Al share time at the 4 spot?also, TMac or Joe at 3?

He brings up Marvin Williams because its one of the few moves that works out financially without having to trade away our other players.

Andrew Bynum wouldn't have liked him anyways.

Skyhook got it. That was my reason. I feel like Williams has always been miscast as a SF though, he's more of a backup PF.

This is my formula for the success of the Laker first unit in the future:

- PG can dribble penetrate and shoot fairly well (Sessions will do)
- Kobe Bryant in the high post
- SF that can defend, is a very good shooter, and is a very good post-up player
- PF that can defend, is mobile, and can shoot the 3 ball, as well as post-up a smaller man
- Low post center

Stick the two forwards in the corners, run 1-2 P and R at the top with Kobe and have Bynum down low.

I get the financials aspect but "really? Williams?". probably just me. and I don't think the Hawks would want Pau for Smith right about now.

I think they would. You know it's tough with Pau. Perhaps it's just time we accept him as a lesser player and keep him, rather than trying to trade him? I've been looking for quality Cs and it's just very hard to find good ones.

Bynum on the other hand we can get a ton for.

Let's go get smart high IQ basketball players. Al Horford at PF, with Gasol at C, how's that?

Horford? sounds tempting. he played solid post injury so I'm not sure if the Hawks will agree but Horford-Bynum is more plausible to me than Gasol-Smith. benefits both teams imo.

I think Bynum is worth more quite a bit more. I really like that duo of Gasol-Horford though with Hill as the backup. Flawless on offense no matter who is playing. Smart, cohesive, defensive-oriented basketball. With Horford providing spacing now you can put Kobe in the post, MWP in the post. You can run P and P/P and P. You have the defensive speed to match teams on the perimeter in the P and R.

First rumor I'm hearing guys is Nick Young. The Lakers have been very high on the idea of adding a SG/SF for a while now so expect the biggest improvement from L.A. to be in this area. If you can get a strong third man for the SG/SF rotation without giving up too much that's already a big step in the right direction.
