Dwight Howard wants out of Orlando, the events of today notwithstanding, a source close to Howard tells SheridanHoops.com

On the day coach Stan Van Gandy and general manager Otis Smith lost their jobs with the Magic, a source who has spoken with Howard recently said the All-Star center desperately wants to be traded prior to the start of next season.

And although the Brooklyn Nets are still considered the frontrunner, “it is not going to be a one-horse race,” the source said, listing the Mavericks, Knicks and — to a lesser degree — the Clippers and Lakers as among the destinations that would appeal to Howard.

If this is true, we're effing cursed.

The source is probably Steven A Smith...

If Dwight truely wants out let's just hope the NBA rigs the draft to give the Nets the number 1 pick haha. :(

If true, then better we find out now than 1/2 way through the season.

Just wait until someone with credibility confirms it. I doubt it's true.

Whether it's true or not....we have to find out his intentions well before the season starts....can't go through another year of this drama...it's not fair to the fans.....or the other players.....

Maybe he's warmed up to it since he's been living there with his girl for over a month now.

Far too much logic in this post. You can't expect to get away with that on these forums :P

Alex Kennedy ‏@AlexKennedyNBA

Don't be surprised if Orlando's list of candidates is similar to Portland's list of candidates. They're eyeing many of the same executives.

I'm hearing that Donnie Walsh is one of the candidates that the Orlando Magic would like to interview.

Chris Bernucca is smart. he just upped his views by a large mark by preying on a very reasonable insecurity in many fan's minds.

best of all, he never has to back this up. this source stays unnamed and forgotten if this all proves to be wrong.

if you want to save yourself some peace of mind, then just ignore anything coming from 'sources' for the next season. or, in the very least, take it all with a grain of salt.

one thing you can be sure of, though, is that the Magic wouldn't be firing Stan if they felt they had no hope in retaining Dwight. actions speak so much louder than the words of sources.

Well said.

The only thing nagging at the back of my mind is that maybe, just maybe the magic felt every needed to fire Stan for taking the firing request public.

I dunno, would have thought they would fire him at the time if that was the case.

Personally I would hope that if they knew they couldn't retain Dwight they would have kept Stan.

The Magic must believe that they have some chance of retaining Dwight. Had they known that it was absolutely impossible, Stan would still be here.

We're at that point. Do we have someone to start part 24? If not, I'll do it.
