Re: Official NBA Playoffs Thread
In the Amusing Moments in Sports Radio Before I Remembered My Son's Advice and Stopped Listening file -- I was listening to Legler defend Lebron from criticism of his "lack of clutchness." I started off agreeing with what I knew Legler's conclusion would be, but was getting pissed because his arguments were soooooooooooo stupid.

That's extremely difficult to do even in 2K12 with 48 minute quarters and the CPU on rookie. We're watching an all-time great here, probably a top 3 talent of all-time. The scary part though? They needed that from him PLUS D-Wade having an MVP performance himself with 30 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 blocks and a steal on 57% shooting....all that from them and they barely hung on for the win (the game was even closer than the 8-point final spread). They might very well beat Indiana, but nobody can sustain this kind production game in and game out, and they'll both need to be in All-NBA form to make it even out of this series, let alone the East, since their third option is not even reliable to score double digits on a nightly basis. Bosh's value is showing more and more, and this team has no chance to win a ring without him.
Truth be told tho, I dunno how much chance anytime has with San Antonio playing the way they are. They've lost only TWICE in their last 31 games....how is anybody supposed to beat them 4 times outta 7? Barring a major injury, the Spurs are the 2012 NBA champions and I don't think it's even close.
no question those were outstanding numbers from Waddette and LeTrav.
Last year at this time, Dirk was doing pretty good. Anyone got the comparison #s?
Agree 100% about the Spurs. It would take a slew of injuries, or maybe just one
to Tony Parker, for them not to end up champs. Maybe Parker should have been MVP.

Re the Steve Blake news - how freakin sad is that? Hate tweets because
he missed a shot. One can only wonder if the senders are big Kobe fans
who think he's a 'high-character' guy.
Okay, miss a buzzer beater, get death threats. By this standard, Kobe should have received this kind of treatment 53 times since 2000-01. Out of curiosity, I looked up Lakers field goal attempts in the last 10 seconds of the 4th quarter or OT with the team trailing by 3 or fewer points. In that situation since 2000-01, Kobe has shot 23-76 -- 30.3%.
This is the guy folks are screaming about to take the last shot?
Well, in a kinda-sorta defense -- Kobe is 4 for 12 the past two seasons. That's 33.3%. He's IMPROVING!!!
By the way, Kobe has made more than half of his buzzer beaters in just 2 of the past 12 seasons. He was 6-11 in 2009-10, and 3-5 in 03-04.
I'd love this to be cross posted to the Gen Playoff board.
Kobe shoots ~ 30% in 'clutch' situations. Outstanding.

Duncans #s against the Clippers. not bad for someone who is OLD and has no cartileage in his knees.
34 minutes per game
21 points
59.4% from the field
80% at the line
9.3 rebounds
3.3 assists
2 blocks
1.3 turnovers
1.8 fouls
+69 plus/minus
And he is a free agent this summer. Any chance Someone is going to mess around and offer him a max contract? Not that he'd leave SA.

Re: Official NBA Playoffs Thread
another instance Sunday where LaBron caught a ball on an off-rebound
and by the time he dribbled, he had move probably 3-4 feet.
then there was that play Kobe hit at the end of a period in game 4 (iirc)
where he travelled at least 2x before hitting the shot which I agree was just
barely released in time.

Good advice. I'm looking forward more to the Western Conference finals than the NBA finals. The (not quite) past vs the future.
Can they televise SA in black and white and OKC in color?

KG at 36 can still get it done.
In '07-'08 they dropped his minutes from near 40 a game to near 31 minutes a game and he has produced solid year after year.

KG looks better this playoffs than he has since his first year in Boston.

He is playing some impactful defense. DRtg is 94. That is second best of his career and still posting a PER of 20.4

SAS in the finals, all the NBA casual fans (probably all of them being Heat bandwagonners, too) will be all like "Oh no, Duncan in the Finals, sooooo boring."
I really hate that. Do they even know what basketball looks like???? Watching a GOAT PF/C absolutely dismantle an opposing front line is fun to watch, and if you don't think so, maybe you should go back to SlamBall and and1 mixtapes.
I'm rooting for a SAS vs. BOS Finals series. That will be one for the books.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Boston will a serious statement game tonight. They looked like they had is clicking. Not sure the Sixers can recover the series at this point. At this point, I may actually hope Miami wins over Indy so I can watch Boston take them down.

Agreed. I think Boston takes it in 6. The interesting question is whether Indiana can take Miami without Bosh. I don't think they let Lebron and Wade shoot 38 straight the next game.

Re: Official NBA Playoffs Thread
Leave Bynum on the bench.
The Lakers have more speed in transition and more energy with Paul at center and MWP at PF. Bynum has no heart. I don't count him as one of the best centers. He can put up some impressive games but he doesn't have it mentally.
24 years old and he plays like a tired old man. I would trade him if I was LA. Not worth 15M.
Oh, and total BS call on MWP. That looked more like a clean block then a foul let alone a flagrant.

Mike Brown is coaching a crap game.
He is doing nothing to adjust. Leaving Bynum out there is killing them. He is to slow up and down the court. Terrible coaching.
