What now? Hmmm...I suppose they'll go after something like these:

1) A change-of-pace speed back
2) Another WR who can really get downfield
3) Another OLman
4) Another DB

We'll see. Let's face it. The D is going to be fun this year. We're going to have to hope our OL gets and stays healthy. Then it's really up to Matt Flynn. Flynn is the wild card. God I hope he turns out to be a first rate QB.

So far, so good. In the 4th round we drafted Robert Turbin, RB, Jaye Howard, DT, and Korey Toomer, LB. Turbin's a guy a lot of Seahawks' fan were wanting to pick in the 3rd, so it's nice to see him taken a round later. I also like the addition of another LB because we needed someone to possibly replace Hill at some point.

A bit surprised we haven't added a DB, but then again I guess we have a stable full of them. Plus Byron Maxwell potentially waiting in the wings.

A WR would be a nice addition at some point, but then again last year we added two quality WR [Baldwin, Lockette] AFTER the draft. Who knows what PC/JS have up their sleeves this year?

Speaking of Lockette, I believe he's going to see a very increased role this year.

Sounds like Howard has played DE, DT, and NT, and might be able to back up Bryant.

There's the CB: Jeremy Lane, CB. A 6'0 press corner who also ran track in college. Mayock really liked the pick noting Lane did well against LSU.

Out of all three drafts we've had under PC/JS, this one really stands in contrast to the Ruskell approach. Most of the players we have selected are athletic specimens from smaller schools/conferences. A far cry from the seasoned pedigree and bigger programs Ruskell looked for.

One article I read seemed to suggest Howard excelled as a 3 tech and was merely OK as a 5 tech. He could back up Bryant but he may be the long term replacement for Jason Jones as an interior pass rusher. Which isn't a bad idea since we've been rotating different veterans for that role for the past three years.

There's the DB. Interesting that so far we've drafted from Idaho, Northwestern State and Utah State (twice!)

Next up: Winston Guy, SS/LB.

Enjoyable listing to Billick, Mayock, and Charles Davis spend some time talking in depth about the Seahawks's draft/approach. Noting that the Seahawks seem to put a premium on toughness and heaping some praise on their approach for being a bit different.

Defensive draft so far. 6 defensive players, 2 offensive players.

They've pretty much let the receiving corp alone in this draft, as well as the OL. Just backing up Lynch with something more than Forsett, and a QB to groom for the future.

Looks we finished the draft with two more defensive players [kind of]: J.R. Sweezy, Dt [solid last name BTW...] and Greg Scruggs, DE. Sweezy's apparently going to transition over to guard, which is odd. Or not odd at all, since we grabbed Jameson Konz as a TE/H-back and turned him into a DE/OLB. And turned Allen Bradford into a LB when he was a RB.

Interesting that the team did very little in terms of upgrading the offense. I thought a 3rd down type RB would be a good idea since Lynch isn't really a pass-catcher and Leon Washington was rather dull. Also thought we might look to add a TE or WR, especially since our WR is interesting but also kind of a mixed bag.

Now let the UDFA frenzy begin!

So far, here's the draft players and UDFA:

1 B. Irvin DE West Virginia
2 B. Wagner LB Utah State
3 R. Wilson QB Wisconsin
4 R. Turbin RB Utah State
4 J. Howard DT Florida
5 K. Toomer LB Idaho
6 J. Lane CB Northwestern State
6 W. Guy S Kentucky
7 J. Sweezy G North Carolina State
7 G. Scruggs DE Louisville
U J. Kearse WR Washington
U L. Tuinei WR Oregon
U P. Bates WR Ohio
U L. Durham CB Mcneese St.
U S. McGrath LS Henderson St.
U J. Opperud T Montana
U D. Shead S Portland St.
U M. Taylor DE Cincinnati
U C. Wiggs K Purdue

Odd list of UDFA. I do like Tuinei quite a bit; he developed slowly at Oregon but by the end of his career was a solid overall WR. Hell of a blocker.

But look at the schools...lots of small programs. What are the odds that we'll find starting caliber talent at so many small schools?

naturally, i love the tunei signing... as said, he's an elite blocker. outstanding hands. longer strides make up for a lack of speed. epic performance in the rose bowl this past january.

Whoah, so Carp is likely out for a year? i don't worry that much about the year with some of our other picks, but it's hard for me to see a 1st year player miss his whole second year and come back into play the 3rd year... this may have been a wasted 1st, though it's not really P&J''s fault.

Also.... Wilson might start???

Well, holy ****...

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have traded tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. to the Seattle Seahawks for a conditional late-round pick, a source has told FOXSports.com.

The two teams are still ironing out the language of the trade.

The Bucs announced they have signed former Colts tight end Dallas Clark.

Winslow had 75 receptions for 763 yards and two touchdowns last season with the Bucs. He averaged 10.2 yards per reception and played in all 16 games last year.

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/Kellen-Winslow-Tampa-Bay-Buccaneers-Seattle-Seahawks-trade-052112

So we have Kellen Winslow and Zach Miller as our top TE? I know Winslow has some baggage but he doesn't miss games and catches a hell of a lot of balls. As much as draft pundits thought the Seahawks needed to draft a WR, we have a fair collection of offensive weapons right now. We can absorb the cap hit this year, and apparently all we've lost at worst a 7th round pick in '12 [that can become a 6th round pick].

I really don't know. It's hard to believe a 3rd round pick could end up starting over Flynn, but if Wilson 'won' the QB competition I wouldn't be horribly surprised. If we were talking about someone like Tannehill I'd say there was no shot, but Wilson's a bit different. He seems like a ridiculously quick study and clearly PC/JS are excited to see how the team can use him.

I really hope Wilson succeeds. In the grand scheme of things I don't care how the Seahawks win so long as they win, but it would be a heck of a lot more fun to be a contender with a guy like Wilson than some highly touted first rounder. A nice, big middle finger to conventional football wisdom

There's so much intrigue this year. The FA acquisitions and draft picks are all very interesting to me. Who wins out in the first genuine QB competition the Seahawks have had in years? How does the offensive line do with Okung and Moffitt healthy? What kind of personnel groups/two TE packages are we going to run? How will the upgrades to the DL pan out?

I love our front office. Just this morning I heard that Tampa was going to try and trade Winslow and I think there is no way we get him, but then I see tonight the we got him... and for only a 7th or possibly a 6th... that is awesome.

I feel like if we get any kind of decent QB play we will be a very scary team.

good pickup. I wonder if Miller is stoked or just realized he'll be a battering ram again this year

Well, Clemons is holding out... knowing ps and js they will play some hard ball. On the bright side Irvin is getting lots of 1st string attention, training, and reps because of it.
