Can Durant ever be the face of the NBA?..

Post#1 » by NewYorkWarmth37 » Tue May 22, 2012 5:09 am

Does Durant have the characteristics to be the face of the NBA, tbh?..

Some potential roadblocks..

- He has severe acne..in this era of HD tv, high quality pictures, social media, etc, having severe and repulsive acne can definitely affect a player's image, especially with an abundance of NBA players being featured in magazines such as GQ..

Image

- His charisma is limited..he's very quiet and boring IMO..

- He plays for Oklahoma City..I don't have to elaborate on this point..

So, is Durant's game flashy and exciting enough to negate his lack of good looks and charisma, tbh?..can he be the face of the NBA?..

He's very charismatic honestly and he has a fantastic sense of humor.

Add in his involvement with the fans, i.e. playing flag football, and I think he will make a fantastic face for the league.

He is a genuine guy....you can market that about him. He has a personality which everybody can relate to which can be a big selling point about him.

BTW those dudes who are in the advertisement business can market anything they want. They know how public's mentality works.

Derrick Rose has the same "problems" of marketability you mentioned as Durant but he got a big ass contract from adidas...They can market anything they want.

Hey, sry to inform you that there are other cities/big cities beyond NYC/LA. OKC actually has **** going on there with Dallas maybe 150 miles away and close to Tulsa/KC. STFU about the market size!

From what we have seen, so far, "nice guys" like Durant are considering boring, tbh..his facial problems compound the issue..

Lebron - arrogant "chosen one"..flashy, pompous..

Kobe - extremely arrogant, selfish, genuine "bad guy", bad teammate..

Jordan - "bad guy", bad teammate, carried the league

Bird - White guy..

Magic - Won rings in LA in the NBA's prime, arguably the most entertaining player of all-time..

Clean, "nice guys" like Durant, generally don't become the face of the NBA, unless they play in a large market, or unless they're historically entertaining(Vince Carter, as an example)..

Jordan was never the bad guy. He was always the golden boy. Barkley was the "bad" boy.

Pretty much. Most every conversation all year began with "Lebron and Durant"

- Jordan was arrogant and cocky, and it was well known, even at the time, that he was a horrible person..

- Bird being White is absolutely huge for his image, only an idiot would argue otherwise..

you've never set foot in Oklahoma but still you want to say nothing about it in your argument? I'm putting you in your place right now. Get out of your little bubble in NYC and explore the middle of the country. You are the epitome of what's wrong with America. Self entitled pricks.
