The new Magic GM will be alot smarter than Otis. Hawks can still make an offer.

I don't think Beaubois is enough to get Howard, although I do think that if Deron signs with Dallas that the Mavs will be favorites to get Howard in FA as well. On another note: Please ASG or new GM or Rick Sund or whoever make a trade for Dwight, show that you still care about winning and not just about money, even if it's just a rental we need this!!

Atlanta, ASG, Sund or anyone associated with the Hawks organization has no clue how to be creative in moving pieces for this team. They would rather let contracts expire, taking the easy way out.
The Bibby trade was an outlier; you won't see Sund do anything of significance. He has no creativity.
They struggle with the draft, they don't develop talent, and they aren't bringing in any big name FAs.

We are what we are, and that is a team that has no shot at D12. I sure wouldnt' team him with Josh anyway. You put them on the FT line all game and they kill any shot they thought they would have.

It sure would be nice if this city had an ownership group that wanted to compete. Instead, a 5th seed is a seed for confidence for LD and give him one more year to force him to win with minimum vets and Marvin. Its a sad state for a franchise that could be considered the worse franchise in pro sports history.

It's not about what the Hawks can offer it's about what the Hawks would offer for a guy that has made no mention of wanting to come here.

Face it, Atlanta is small potatoes. Psuedo large market and dispassionate fans. The other hometown kid, Smoove, is sucking on Boston fans' dongs and spends his offseason living next to the Kardashians in LA.

Actually, I could see Sund and/or new guy making a play for Dwight. For Sund, it's would be his farewell move for a GM career that actually started with a lot of promise (youngest ever GM built an expansion team from scratch and had them as a legit contender before he left), but he has always fallen short of the ring. He could pull a "Schulerholtz" and trade for the big name player for the final push. While that didn't work for the Braves, I think the NBA is different enough that it could work. Even if Sund does retire immediately thereafter, it'd be easier to hire a new guy (a GM would prefer to have the star player than to find one) and if D12 does leave via FA, then he could always blame Sund for the move.

As for a new guy, at some point, you'd think we'd get someone with enough, uh..., testicular fortitude to actually break apart the team and give it a new identity. D12 could be the centerpiece to build around...

Dallas has no shot at trading for Dwight Howard. The only way I see him coming to Dallas is as a free agent. Rick DeVos (Orlando Owner) is around 85 years old, he already said he wants to compete for a championship, and he wants proven talent in return for Howard. We possibly have the pieces but it depends on how much we're willing to give up.

Apparently now, Brooklyn is hoping for the top pick in the draft, so they can have the option to move it to Orlando for Dwight Howard. Deron Williams according to one source (the hidden source) is suggesting that it's Dwight Howard or bust.

Our management can always pursue Dwight Howard, but we should know more after tonight, so I hope NJ fails to land a top 3 pick in the lottery.

Well it looks like the Nets are officially out of the Dwight race. All they have is Lopez and Marshawn and zero draft picks to offer.

it seems like as draft day comes, the offers for Dwight are getting lower and lower. i guess that is because Dwight has not agreed with an extension besides with the Nets.
