Stephen Jackson and The Spurs
For the last season or two Jackson has been all about contract extensions and money but ever since getting traded to the Spurs he seems to have shut up and started playing. Do you think the Spurs promised him an extension or is their something more?

This is considered baiting. This is your only warning.
EDIT: Wait...how many warnings do you already have against your record? Wow.

He is just in a team that doesn't allow bitching.

Agreed. Add in the fact that he respects Pop and Duncan and is on a vet team. He has been on the losing end and can win a championship this year. Shows what a quality organization and leadership can do to malcontents and cancers.

It's not really fair. Jackson was a total cancer on the Bucks and now he's playing team ball. Diaw was as big as an elephant on the Bobcats and now he looks and plays like and all-star.
Most importantly, they unloaded Jefferson which was probably their worst trade/signing in the last decade.

Implying that it is random chance/luck/fairness that made Jackson and Diaw shape up, and not the professional and winning environment that the Spurs organization has steady constructed since dumping Rodman ages ago.
Stephen Jackson is like Crazy Tom from Ender's Game. Around a bunch of losers he gets angry and acts out, but under strong leadership he stays controlled and professional..

It is about motivation. Spurs have eyes set on a ring. Jackson knows that the Spurs are legitimate and he and the coach know each other and know what to expect from each other. Diaw is motivated by Tony Parker who basically signed him

Pretty much this. A lot of times simply getting away from losing, bad locker rooms, and/or inexperienced coaches is enough to completely change the way a guy plays on the court. Plus the role you put a player in also matters. It's kind of crazy how much that stuff matters, since in the end it's all still just basketball. But it just goes to show how important all the intangible stuff really is, and that running a team like a video game isn't going to get you anywhere in real life.

He is a good player on a winning team but on a losing team he is one of the last guys you want on a team.

This. Before everything went to hell in Indiana, he was a fine teammate. When GS made that run I think he was a pretty good teammate then too.

And shows that organizations that aren't so hot can create said malcontents.

Stephen Jackson was such a huge cancer on the Bucks. Just awful. He needs to act like a professional and play hard no matter the situation. 99% of the league does it. The fact that he may get a ring because he quit on the Bucks is disgusting.

Re: Stephen Jackson and The Spurs
Stephen Jackson can make a play here or there, but he is not a good player and it doesn't matter whether the team is winning or losing.
People seem to forget that Jackson left the Spurs, the team that gave him a chance in the NBA, developed him and made him part of a successful team because he wanted more money. Jackson has developed himself into a journeyman and occasional team cancer out of choice.
This is a joining of a desperate player and a team who was desperate to get rid of another player in Richard Jefferson. If you're a Spurs fan you have to be happy Jackson is being the best Jackson he can be, but who wants to trust in Stephen Jackson? How many teams has he let down in his career?
I think the Diaw situation is completely different. Diaw didn't have the skills the Bobcats needed and they didn't appreciate what he did do. A losing culture can have a big effect on veteran players. San Antonio saw the skills he had and utilizes him in that role. Diaw has never been a problem on teams except when they wanted him to be more than he is.

I think S-Jax can deal with coming off the bench on the Spurs because he respects Pop. On the other hand, Skiles is just an a-hole.

If this was Miami/LA/Chicago/OKC/any other team, ofcourse you have doubts about trusting Jackson. But last time he was in San Antonio, he didn't let us down. In fact, he won us big playoff games hitting clutch shots. I think it's only in San Antonio that he has earned his teammate's and fan's trust.
