But Kobe is still a top shelf, A-number-1 SUPERSTAR, dontcha know. Heard it straight from Mike Greenberg's mouth, and he has a morning talk show and EVERYTHING.

great scoring game getting > 40 but he didn't do anything to make his
teammates better. This is the future of Nick Young on those occasions
when he gets smokin hot.

Um, mathematically speaking, isn't that still just . . . . 1?

Looking forward to tonight's game, the Pacers will win if Hibba and West can stay out of foul trouble.

You might want to let your son know about this. I am sure he's got some good advice, Nivek. :)

It's funny. dobrojim has a daughter who is well-versed on sports. My 12-year old son will walk into the room when I'm watching an NBA game, and within seconds he'll say, "That guy should have passed (when he was watching Rudy Gay this playoffs)". Even he knows Kobe needs to rely on his teammates.

I get to vicariously "coach" my son at times. He can watch the Spurs pass the ball again and again until the most open shooter gets a shot. My son, unfortunately unbeknownst to him, loves to shoot the three but IMO he doesn't do a lot else. (Pray for me to not be the critical dad. I'm concerned.) When we watch a game, I'll say, "Wow, I love the way everybody on that team does the little things. Even though some guys mainly just shoot threes, they also move without the ball. They set screens. They block out for rebounds …"

Does this make me the bad guy? I don't know but I do feel better when he thinks it is his idea and he comes up with discoveries. :)

wish my daughter would take more of what she knows and has been told
(and not necessarily by me) and incorporate it into how she has been
playing in this disaster of a house league we're in right now. Our team
is a disaster which has led her to play in the worst possible way. :(

Kids, jim. Teens especially listen to their peers or try to fit in way more than they hear us "old" folks.

My son is the same way. We're doing youth baseball now. All I can say is he's blending in with his team for the worst.

Back to topic: 33FGAs and plenty of insults for the Pistons and Pau Gasol, but 0 assists.

I am glad to see Kobe Bryant gone fishing for the summer.

lots of excuses and rationalizations for "the piece of meat" on the general board.

Of course we're all just haters.

Yeah, I'm guessing Pau is thinking to himself - "Ya know what, I really didn't mind the trade talk early in the season. In fact, I was kinda hoping..."

I don't think there's a sane player in the NBA that really wants to play with Kobe next season. Maybe Odom and Fisher. Maybe Metta, but the sane part...

The Lakers need to figure out what their course is next season. The assumption is that Kobe stays, but I think Mitch needs to have a heart-to-heart with him. I can't see Pau and Kobe both being back.

we're all guilty of not playing perfect basketball all the time. too passive, too aggressive, slacking on d, not moving without the ball, not boxing out, etc. this extends to all sports. we are only human after all. we just get to get nitpicky when someone does it professionally instead of at the gym.

Miami has turned-it up a notch, the series looks out-of-reach for the Pacers now.

The Pittman flagrant at the end of the game was absolutely disgusting. The "wink" to his teammates sealed the deal for his impending suspension.

Stephenson taunted LeBron on the sidelines and they send out Pittman to elbow him at the neck.

Apparently, if a player on an opposing team's bench gives the choke sign, it's open invitation to try and end his basketball career. Stay classy, Miami.

If there's no suspension forthcoming for that vicious non-basketball play I'd be surprised. No room in basketball for moves like that.
