Re: Jonas Valanciunas 11/12 Season Thread III
If you multiply Hoffas rebounding rate by the cosine of Patrick OBryants minutes and then subtract Kwame Browns fouls, you will be left with Valanciunas's probable bust index.
The inverse of that number will allow you to vector plot Valanciunas's 1st, 2nd and 4th season.
Summing the above seasons and inversing the result using Greg Oden's differing leg length ratio as the numeric base will give you the duration that Valanciunas will stay in the league.

To Mufasa
Reputation, consensus rankings has nothing to do with anything. I follow Jonas for a long time, I have my own opinion, like you have your own opinion. Let me be cocky, I am one of very few people in the world, who actually saw his very last game before 2011 NBA draft, it was non televised exhibition game against Brazil juniors.
Your problem is, that you think you know Jonas, while you don't. You probably watched few minutes highlights of him dunking and rebounding, looking extremely raw, and it was your first impression. Its your personal opinion, but the problem is, that most of the things you think you know about Jonas, are not actually true. You made some ridiculous claims earlier, it was completely made up stuff.
I dont know whats your problem with Jonas' basketball IQ? Can you tell me why you think his basketball IQ is low? it has to be a reason. His basketball IQ is very high, especially offensively. His positioning, off ball game, shot selection and passing game, all exceptional. He rarely does something unintelligible, I witnessed him making some terrible quick passes, but thats nit picking.
Defensive timing, silly fouls is a concern, but at this point I think its credible to say experience can straighten that up.
Talking about physical athleticism, you make it sounds like he is a stiff. He is 7 footer, his vertical is below average I guess, but he still is one of the more athletic 7 footers out there, whats the problem, he is still above average NBA center in this category. And dint you just said You trust Leonards Rebounding more, because oh his better vertical leap? That is ...
His skill level is ok, especially his fundamentals. He keeps the ball high and some of his post shots are unblockable. He can finish anything around the rim, able to beat double or even triple teams, has face up go to move. What else you need, no one said he is prime Hakeem.

I am willing to bet good money that if you went back you would find that Mufasa was against the drafting of Jonas - probably thought it was a bad idea to draft another euro big man.
The absurd mystery of the strange forces of existence.

I think he was pro Motiejunas, what is actually kinda funny, because I remember raptors forum dot com actually had sarcastic, suicidal ''what you gonna do if BC drafts D. Motiejunas'' thread. And just think about Motiejunas Bargnani duo for a second... Most of Raptors fans thought it was worst possible pick, but being in opposition is kinda Mufasas thing.

I remember those Monteijunas fears (sorry sp) lol. Not even BC would be that stupid to draft that guy to pair with Bargs- especially after the Hedo experiment.
I don't mind his game from what I've seen, but I agree that I think Val has a higher ceiling overall. Both will be better than Vesely though.

Forming the correct opinion is better than forming a unique one. You haven't provided much of a basis for argument, other than Valanciunas has roughly the same shape and maybe haircut as some busts.

Superb.
I was hoping I'd see reply along these lines. You, my friend, delivered.

If Jonas turns out to be bust, we would say nothing to Mufasa, cuz what he is saying now doesn't make no sense aniway. Comparing some old college scrub to Jonas - GEEZ...

Thats true...Mufasa is the only user on this forum who thinks Jonas V will be a bust....if he turns out to be correct, I think he should be elevated to Super Mod or Global Mod status....at the very least, a Raps Mod forum

And what if he turns out to be wrong? Should he be permabanned? Or is it only up from here for haters?

Mufasa said many wrong this but how can he claim he doesn't dominate LKL ? HE DOES. He's by far the best per - minute player in recent years. He doesn't need to play that much because most of the games are blowouts and he would've easily put up 20/12 in 34+minutes. The only team in LKL that he struggles a bit is Kauno Zalgiris - a Euroleague team which played extremely well during the last part of the season.
The second biggest mistake Mufasa made is that he said JV has a low bball IQ. That's just simply wrong as UcanUwill pointed out. Sure he's no Steve Nash, Larry Bird or Magic but the kid is no Javale Mcgee either. I would say his bball IQ is above average.
And plus he has only recently turned 20 years old while also showing improvement every year since he was 16. That has to count for something.

I don't entirely disagree with Mufasa because I worry about Val's athleticism translating to a quicker/faster/longer NBA game, but it's stuff like this that makes me shake my head. Does anyone think Jonas at 24 wouldn't completely thrash the NCAA?
