Point guard prospect Rysheed Jordan.

http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/recr ... ?track=rss

Jordan, ranked the No. 19 player in the Class of 2013, emerged several months ago as a top target for Maryland, which is attempting to beat out a field that includes several hometown programs. For any programs not within driving distance, it may be an uphill battle.

“It’s still Maryland and Temple at the top, and then you’ve got Villanova. Kansas is in there, too. It’s the same as before, pretty much,” Yard said. “He’s a Philly guy and he’s got a really close relationship with his mother. He’s willing to go a few hours, but probably not too far. But you never know if that could change. Kids are so fickle.”

Terps assistant Dalonte Hill first scouted Jordan -- a 6-foot-3 pure point guard who averaged more than 20 points and six assists as a junior -- and has remained in frequent contact.

“He likes Maryland a lot. Dalonte and Rysheed have a great relationship. and Rysheed and [Mark] Turgeonare pretty cool, too, but Dalonte has been the point man,” Yard said. “Maryland is in frequent contact. They’re recruiting the [heck] out of the kid.”

Yard, a long-time observer of Philadelphia basketball, believes Jordan is “arguably the best point guard prospect out of Philly in the past 30 years. The only person who was that good of a prospect was probably Pooh Richardson.”

“I love Maryland and Sheed really likes Maryland. Maryland’s always been a great school,” he said. “I’d love to see some Philly kids at Maryland. If Rysheed goes to Maryland, the floodgates will open up. Philly is really big on that. Look at what happened with Syracuse after Hakim Warrick went there and all of the players [from Philly] who’ve been successful there since then.”

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Yet another Terp is leaving. This time it's... Ashton Pankey. http://www.testudotimes.com/2012/5/15/3 ... #storyjump

He did a nice job for a redshirt frosh, but he was inconsistent and a very under-sized PF. Good luck to him. As I intimated before, with all the bigs they recruited, he wasn't going to get PT for MD.

Update: Stoglin was invited to the first official group workout that is taking-place on Sat & Sun, he will be there. Stoglin is on ESPN's Top-100 list.

What is an "official group workout"? Do you mean the Nets workout where they invited everyone but their mothers? I think my 9 year old nephew got an invite, but he turned it down.

The event is the first NBA combine and no not everyone can attend, you have to be invited. You could say that with every NBA teams FO in attendence, they may have at-least "coursory" interest in those participating
http://www.nba.com/nets/news/nets_to_ho ... 20515.html

Even if Stoglin wows at the combine, he's a longshot to be drafted at-all unless he can demonstrate some PG skilz.

Here's a pretty good scouting reports of Stoglin:

49: Terrell Stoglin, 6’1 185, PG/SG, Maryland, Soph.

A fairly interesting prospect with a lot of natural talent and production, Stoglin was one of the most dynamic scorers in the ACC this past year. Led the ACC in ppg (21.6 ppg) as a Soph. Still, no one thought he’d declare as he did directly to end the season. He doesn’t have a rounded out game, and it seems as though he didn’t get along with their new coach Mark Turgeon from last year. Also was suspended for a year at Maryland because he failed too many drug tests. Was pulled from a game against Duke for bad shooting and for basically being a ballhog and notdoing what Coach Turgeon asked him to on offense. He has a lot against him, and teams will surely be getting to the bottom of it. Physically, Stoglin has sufficient size for a PG. He’s 6’1 and has a decent 185 lb frame that will need to get stronger. He plays off the ball a lot too, and is small for that. Athletically, Stoglin is solid. He shows good quickness and speed, and is a smooth, fluid type with nice body control. He’s not real explosive or a big-time leaper, but adequate.

Offensively, Stoglin is talented. He can slash and is an effective shooter. Likes to shoot the 3 ball a whole lot. He is a lefty with a nice shot spotting up and off the bounce. Real good touch, form, and elevation on his shot. Flashes NBA range. Likes to shoot off the dribble and can do so with promise. Able to crossover and dance with the ball and then go into his shot pretty nicely. Needs better shot selection though. Settles for jumpers more than he should, often bailing out the D. Has a habit of shooting jump shots early in the shot clock or without ever passing the ball. Really confident, sometimes overconfident though. Off the dribble, Stoglin is decent too. He has a smooth 1st step and real solid handles and moves. Can get into the lane pretty well, but has struggled against quicker guards at times in halfcourt sets. More than decent quickness. Likes to go all the way to the rim when he drives, doesn’t show that much from mid-range. Favors his strong hand, but is adequate with his right. Wasn’t a great finisher around the rim in terms of efficiency (43% from 2 point range). Sometimes flashed crafty ability to finish amongst the trees, with scoops and reverse lay-ins, and he has really good touch, but more often than not he forced wild shots in these situations. Likes to utilize in-and-out and Eurostep moves in the lane, and does so effectively. As a PG, Stoglin struggles. He’s got the size to play mostly as a PG in the NBA, but he really, REALLY likes to look for his own shots as opposed to being an unselfish floor leader. Likes to drive to score instead of dish most times, and looks for his own shots most times in the pick’n’roll game. Played a very significant amount of time as a scoring guard, not really running the offense himself and getting teammates shots. Average just under 2 apg (2.2 topg as well) last year, really low for a 6’1 guard. Is going to be a threat to get to the foul line wherever he lands, and he’s a decent shooter when there. A good transition player, and finishes best around the rim when he’s on the break. Can score in big bunches at his best.

Defensively, Stoglin is not great. He isn’t quite terrible, as he shows some ability to defend PG’s good enough, but he doesn’t stand out at all. Sometimes will step into a passing lane, poke a pass away and get a steal, but mostly just goes with the flow. Should improve getting through screens with urgency. Doesn’t always close out and is sometimes lazy with his energy. Prone to letting shooting struggles effect his defensive play.

Overall, Stoglin likes to score. Lol. That’s his game. He’s an aggressive player who looks for his own shots. He is a one-trick pony who wasn’t efficient in his role as the only Maryland Terrapin who could create shots. In fact, he monopolized it. He doesn’t pass much, doesn’t defend hard, wasn’t a floor leader. He just went out and looked for his own shots, whether it was in the flow of Coach Turgeon’s offense or not. He’s enigmatic, and he has a lot of holes in his game, but he’s such a natural talent as a scorer that there will be interest in him. I just think teams should save the trouble, and just let him be a sparkplug scorer if anything. Not try and make him a PG, he literally shows no PG skills. Also, he's only 20 years old, there is plenty of basketball ahead for him.

I think teams should look at him in the late 2nd round. He's one of the most talented players at that spot.

He's a good player.

He dropped 13 against MD last season at Comcast.

Also scored 20 against Syracuse and 13 against Pitt.

Logan Aronhalt Transfers to Maryland, Will Be Eligible to Play Immediately

Albany guard Logan Aronhalt, who was one of the leaders in the America East conference in a number of categories, will reportedly transfer to Maryland and be eligible to play immediately, according to InsideMDSports.com.

Aronhalt, who just received his bachelors degree from Albany, will be eligible to play immediately using the "Russell WIlson" rule, as he's pursuing a Masters degree from Maryland. This obviously helps give Maryland some additional guard depth and fill the void from the Terrell Stoglin departure and Mychal Parker departure, but Aronhalt isn't a Stoglin clone in terms of his shooting ability or style. Aronhalt, who's 6'3", was the second leading scorer for Albany last season, averaging 13.8 ppg to go along with 4.3 rpg and 1 apg. He shot just over 35% from beyond the arc and made 89% of his free throws. After watching some video of him, he actually has some impressive ups and does a good bit of work in the paint. I'm not sure he'll be able to do that in the ACC, where he'll likely be facing much taller and athletic competition verses what he faced in the America East, but it's good to know that he can do that. He can also create his own shot off the dribble, but I'd expect him to contribute mainly from beyond the arc for Maryland next year and gradually add in other scoring methods.

A highlight video is below. I'm actually pretty impressed. I think he'll contribute immediately next season and I'm glad we added some needed guard depth.

When Logan Aronhalt played against the Terps, Mark Turgeon must have seen something in Aronhalt's game that he liked. http://www.flickr.com/photos/terrysoz/6616995923/

Logan Aronhalt is built like a linebacker and he looks very strong. It only took a few seconds of search engine inquiry to find this, perhaps the secret to his success. He's been into strength and conditioning training from an early age.

Aronhalt's a very smart strategic addition to the team. He's got just 1 year of eligibility, so he won't hurt the recruiting of the great guard prospects they're going after for next year's recruiting class. And he's going to help them win games next season - which is a really good thing - especially with so much youth on the team. Having an experienced older guy like that is going to help - I'm guessing they want him to help the team as much with his maturity as with his play (The 3.78 GPA and going for an advance degree shows a completely different kind of student/athlete than the Stoglins of the world.). On the court, he can provide the physicality that Mosely provided and help spread the court with his 3 point range - which he's hopefully working on every day. In the ACC, he's not going to be dunking on people like he is in those highlights, so I'm sure Turgeon wants him to be focusing on 3 point shooting.

Harrisons Could Announce By October

Andrew and Aaron Harrison could announce their college choice as soon as this fall.

“It’s around that time,” Aaron Harrison Sr. told SNY.tv Thursday, confirming comments he made to the Kentucky Rivals site. “Their birthday is Oct. 28. They want to get it done before the high school season starts.”

The twins are down to four final schools, Maryland, Baylor, Kentucky and Villanova and Aaron Sr. said they would visit three or four of them this summer.

“We’re going to visit Villanova and that’s going to be the first week of July,” Aaron Sr. said. “And then Maryland will be that same week.

“As far as Kentucky goes, I don’t know about that. We’ve been there twice already and my wife’s been there. It’s something we’ve already done. My wife has talked to the coaches and given them the third degree. We may visit there again and we may not.

“As far as Baylor goes that may be the end of June.”

Devon Hall's visit to Maryland was 'a home run'

Maryland coach Mark Turgeon has handed out scholarship offers to a select group of 2014 prospects, and one of them – Cape Henry (Va.) sophomore Devon Hall – was on campus Friday for the first time. Hall got to meet with several staff and faculty members and spent some time mingling with Maryland’s players.

“If I had to grade the visit,” said Hall’s father and coach, Mark Hall, “it was a home run.

Hall, who won Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division II player of the year honors as a sophomore, has grown to a hair over 6 feet 5 and 205 pounds. He considers himself a point guard and has drawn some comparisons to NBA-bound UNC guard Kendall Marshall. Mark Hall, a Baltimore native who moved to Virginia around the time Devon was born, grew up watching Maryland basketball and compared his son to a few Terps greats.

“I remember they had Walt Williams. He was a big guy who could handle the ball. Keith Gatlin was a big point guard. So he could play point guard in college,” he said.
