Agreed, though with many people lacking introspection and self-reflection, it will continue. Easier to say "shut up hater" than to reflect on one's shortcomings or failures.

I'm sure the "haters" are laughing their asses off at his twitter reaction. Mission accomplished.

You know, it wouldn't surprise me if some of the "haters" who tweeted at him are from this board.

I sure hope not. I don't think we have stooped to that level except with one or two people.

I have more issue with the fact this is now at least the second time reading him say that all he needs is his teammates and family, too bad neither of them pay his salary or are the reason he has a job in the first place.

Preferably, you'd hope that they wouldn't do bother with it, but I don't see a real problem with this, nor do I think there's a good reason to care about it.

Same with Bautista. He made one tweet and the rest is history.

Romero has been playing with a chip on his shoulder ever since he got to the majors. I don't see why people are so kerfuffled over him doing this. This is a guy who took a newspaper article where JP Ricciardi said drafting him was "a mistake" and pinned it up so he would see it every day and use it to fire him up to prove his doubters wrong. He became as good as he is now by using every perceived slight as fuel to get better.

He's in a slump now, I have no doubt he's working his butt off to get over it.

Yes, but Bautista made ONE tweet. A harmless one, at that. More passive-aggressive, pseudo-sage in approach than Romero's pity party that just got worse with each tweet.

Again: (Ricky Romero)'s conduct in (his tweets) is like nothing so much as that of a man who, having relieved himself in his own hat, makes haste to clamp the brimming chapeau on his head.

It's fun taking the piss out of grown men throwing tantrums. They're paid millions to do what they've done since they were children--play ball--and yet they can break down, in public, like a preteen listening to Coldplay after a bad breakup.

Finally someone has it right.

JP was on the radio the other morning and they asked him about Twitter haters. JP made it real clear......you send him any sort of negative tweet and you get blocked. If any kids out there think they're accomplishing anything by writing to these guys that they suck or aren't good enough......what these guys usually do is worse than what Ricky did. They usually just hit block and it's over.

Hitting the block is not worse--it's better. Much better than a series of melodramatic twaddle.

Would that Ricky were that mature!

Three cheers for J.P.

We have a high rate of douchey fans at games and on the internet i've noticed the last 5
years or so kind of makes me embarrassed to be a Jays fan. Blue Jays fans have become way
worse than Raptor and Leafs fans.

Pretty much.

When I first saw the thread title I was expecting something much worse actually.

Wow. I really loved Ricky and his attitude before. I hope he gets it back.

This interview is pure damage-control, and not at all well done. He has made his poor performance even more of an issue by his non-professional response/attitude. Half the criticism would go away if he would just button his lip and pitch.
