Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXIV: Offseason Edition)

Can't believe people still want Brook Lopez for Dwight. I don't care how desperate we get, that's a horrible trade. Too much speculation at this point, too many people buying into the media. Wait til you hear quotes about the situation from Dwight...people really gonna believe Chris Sheridan?

I know he's young, but I don't want any part of D. Jordan's contract.

Good point, but I think centers can always be moved for quality pieces. I look at the attention Gasol gets at his age and contract and production and I think Jordan can always be moved.

Gasol is perhaps the most skilled big man in the league while Jordan can't do anything but Dunk. He can't make a basketball outside of 3 feet, plays horrible man defense, and has no court awareness what so ever.

Well we should get a good idea after tonights interview on ESPN 2. Dwight said some of that stuff he said is NOW INACCURATE because A LOT OF THINGS HAVE CHANGED SINCE THEN. So if we hear Dwight say he loves ORL and wants to be here his whole career and that his realtionship with DeVos and Alex is great, we know that all that stuff is now not true.

Does anyone here think the Nets would/should deal their possible top 3 pick for Dwight if D-Will wasn't on the team or in contractual limbo? Just wondering if this is the justification for getting shipping out what could be the pick that drafts Davis.

Clippers now can control L.A. if they beat the Lakers to Dwight Howard. Blake Griffin in the deal and it's done. No-brainer.

Maybe they aren't all opinions...

So I take that to mean that the Blake trade isn't his opinion but something he is hearing from someone in the organization.

BS has been pushing for a D12 Blake trade since December. He's got nothing.

This. Even though I can see why people would now think trading Blake for Dwight would make more sense. He can't really do much more than dunk and rebound. The Spurs exposed him.

I'd still take this deal in a heartbeat if we decide to move him. I think this is as close to equal value as we could possibly get. Of course, you'd want Blake to extend as part of the deal, or we could be in the same place at the end of the season (I think he's on the last year of his contract?)

I would take the deal too, but I think he's still on his rookie contract so he should be a restricted free agent. He shouldn't be hard to re-sign.

Ah, good point. I forgot how young Blake is. this just makes it more appealing in my opinion - trade for near equal value with little chance you lose him for the next five years.

Which is why it probably won't happen....sigh

I feel bad for Charlotte, i want them to get it, but i feel NJ is going to have a crack at it because of conspiracy theories, New Arena, marketable city, it makes too much sense for them to rig it in their favor.

Jeff Van Gundy rips Alex Matins a new one

Idk if this has been posted yet, or if its circulating around some other thread, but I thought this was pretty interesting and deserving of its own thread.

Apparently Stan was in his office all day, and Martins decided to wait until Stan left for the day to fire him via phone call. I have no idea if thats true or not, but Jeff seems absolutely livid at the way Alex handled the entire situation.

Why was Stan at the office? I thought he was on vacation... angry JVG is hilarious though.

@JoshuaBRobbins: I'm hearing that the #Orlando #Magic will interview former #Hornets GM Jeff Bower next week.
