I can't wait for tonight's game.

No Frings so it likely means a loss, but maybe just maybe we can pull it off and go into the second leg with a lead.

1-1 draw away, I'll take that. Anything positive for TFC should be celebrated.

That goal by Hassli though, WOW!

TFC's Koevermans stands by "worst team in world" claim

In a fit of frustration after this past Saturday’s 3-1 loss to D.C. United, Toronto FC striker Danny Koevermans said his team is “setting a record as the worst team in the world.”

While some of his teammates were willing to debate that on Tuesday, no one can dispute that Toronto FC are off to the worst start in MLS history at 0-9-0.

Yet, if they beat the Vancouver Whitecaps on Wednesday at BMO Field in the second leg of the Amway Canadian Championship final (8 pm ET, Sportsnet One), they will win the Voyageurs Cup for the fourth year in a row. Last Wednesday’s first leg ended 1-1 and Toronto expect to have Torsten Frings back in the lineup after missing two games with a shoulder injury.

Koevermans still stood by his words from Saturday.

“Name me one team in the whole world that is 0-9,” Koevermans said after Tuesday’s training at BMO Field. “That’s what I was referring to – that there is not one team in the world who have lost nine times in a row.”

Goalkeeper Milos Kocic, however, was the first to disagree.

“That’s his opinion,” he responded. “I have a different opinion. I think my team is the best in the world. It’s as simple as that. I talk to Danny, he’s one of my best mates on the team, but I don’t agree.”

Center back Adrian Cann also disagreed.

“It kind of bothers me,” he said. “I can say we’re the worst team in the world but it’s harder to say we’re the worst team in the world and do something about it. Actions speak louder than words.”

Head coach and technical director Aron Winter said Koevermans was probably speaking from frustration.

“I don’t agree and I think he has to be smarter and not say those things,” Winter said.

There was agreement, however, that winning the Canadian Championship could help salvage the season because it would mean a return to the CONCACAF Champions League.

“To make something out of the season we have to win tomorrow,” Koevermans said. “Because then you’ve got some nice games coming up from say August until November.”

Vancouver fans must really really hate TFC, we always seem to beat them when it matters.

Winter fired.

The Toronto FC have fired head coach Aron Winter, reports say.

Paul Mariner, the team’s director of player development, will be taking over as head coach, according to Fox Soccer.

Winter had been under mounting pressure as the club set Major League Soccer record by losing the first nine games of the season.

I'm honestly just starting to hate Toronto FC.

Way too much turnover and no real direction in what they want.

This is Tom Anselmi's club. 6 seasons, 7 coaches, 0 Playoffs, 203 matches, 61 wins, -86 goal differential.

What a joke of a franchise.

Toronto FC trio arrested in bar incident in Houston

Three Toronto FC players were arrested and charged with public intoxication in Houston early Monday morning ahead of the club’s midweek matchup against the Dynamo.

Midfielders Nick Soolsma and Luis Silva were arrested along with defender Miguel Aceval after police were called to Club Escobar in Houston's Midtown neighborhood because of a disturbance outside the club.

"Our officers tried to disperse the fight, at which time they refused to leave and then began to have verbal altercations with the officers,” a Houston Police spokesperson told the Toronto Sun.

Police told the Sun that the three TFC players were given an opportunity to walk away from the situation multiple times before officers attempted to handcuff one of the Reds.

"One of them ran and so the officer ran and the officer took him into custody," the spokesperson told the paper.

Toronto FC released the following statement on Monday afternoon:

"We are aware of the charges filed against Miguel Aceval, Luis Silva and Nick Soolsma in Houston earlier today. The players are presently with the team and we continue to investigate this matter. As such, the team will not provide any further comment at this time.”

Silva (above) has appeared in nine games for Toronto as one of the most promising rookies of the 2012 draft class. He was selected out of UC-Santa Barbara with the fourth overall pick in the SuperDraft in January.

This franchise continues to be a joke.

Just watched last nights game and man TFC is really bad. They score 3 goals in the first half against a good Houston Dynamo team then just fall apart in the 2nd half with dumb plays.

Toronto FC really needs a legit talent in the back end if Kaka is serious about making the jump to The MLS he would look good in a red and white TFC kit. Too bad it will never happen though I bet he signs with New York, Chicago, San Jose, Real Salt Lake or D.C.

He would be a welcomed addition besides Montreal I think Toronto has the biggest Italian community in all of Canada or Toronto might be bigger if you consider all the the surrounding areas (Woodbrige, Richmond Hill, Markham)

Joao Plata says he is on the move, TFC says little winger is still on roster

Ecuador forward Joao Plata appears to have Toronto FC in his rear-view mirror. The MLS club, however, insists that he remains in the fold, although he could be headed out for a loan spell.

A Plata tweet Saturday night suggested the five-foot-two, 135-pound speedster was on the move.

“It has been a pleasure playin 4 Toronto FC. I want 2 give much thanks n luv 2 the fans 4 all the support during my time here. Love Plata!!” said the tweet.

During halftime of Saturday night’s 1-1 tie with the New York Red Bulls, Earl Cochrane, the team’s director of team and player operations, told reporters that Plata “today is a Toronto FC player.”

But he said the team has taken calls about the 20-year-old Plata, from clubs in Ecuador and Mexico.

TFC front office continues to show that they have no clue how to run a football club.
