Brock Lesnar News and Rumors

Post#1 » by REDDzone » Sun May 27, 2012 7:47 pm

Figured we could use this as a Lesnar thread. Just because rumors keep coming in.

Yesterday he showed to ufc. Dana, asked if he would return said "yeah, possibly". Also said Brock doesn't come to ufcs for nothing, and that he texted Dana asking to meet "face to face".

This report comes in, saying Lesnar signed EDIT: LOL already deleted, NVM that part.

Forgot to mention: I don't have the exact quote but Dana apparently said he doesn't disagree with Randy's assessment that Brock is a UFC hall of famer.

Dana also already hyping him as a top guy in the division, where there is smoke there's fire?

I really wanted Brock to be this dominant monster that was unbeatable, and I think he could have been but from the sounds of things he seemed determined to work on his strengths and just ignore his weaknesses which is odd. I'd like him to come back but I really can't see anything changing, he was a completely different fighter after the illness too.

JDS, Cain, Overeem, Cormier, Barnett, Lesnar, Mir, Bigfoot, Werdum, Miocic, Struve, Big Nog, Hunt, Nelson...

The HW division has some depth at the top for a change. IMO they need to bring in Cormier and Barnett right away. If Lesnar is coming back make Lesnar vs. Mir III. Or Brock could fight Cormier while Mir takes on Werdum. Either way, they need to get Cormier and Barnett into the UFC.

Lesnar would blow through Nelson IMO. But, it is a fight that makes sense.

He needs to fight a noob imo as his first fight back. I think he still has a lot to learn for what it takes to be a complete mmartist.

If that's their approach, then feed him Big Foot.

no way, not at all. his footwork and boxing was amazing in his last fight. I can't believe the progression.

he simply ran into literally the K-1 champion.

it seemed a real shame for him to work so hard to climb back up and then to give it up. a real shame.

I'd be ecstatic if he came back. I think he's a force, potentially the best HW in the world.

Say what you want about Brock, he doesn't have boring fights. Ever. Its not a ufc ppv when he fights, its a spectacle.

Nelson, Nog, Mir III, BigFoot...so many fights to make.

Javier Mendez was pretty strong about the fact that Brock was focusing way too much on ground stuff, he said his camp was 90% jiu jitsu and wrestling. I didn't really see any major difference at all vs Overeem but I will rewatch over the next few days and look closer.

A Bleacher Report article had a suggestion I liked Stefan Struve. He's got good size, reach, striking and ju-jitsu but always seems to lose when he steps up in competition. He's the right kind of fighter to serve up to Brock in his first fight back. But as mentioned earlier Roy Nelson would be a good pick as well.

He'll probably get Roy Nelson. Dana's been looking to cut Big Country because he hates people who stand up for themselves and shoot straight.

Dana is absolutely not looking to cut Roy Nelson. He may not like him, but Nelson is a draw.

Meh, it may not be Dana's GOAL to cut Roy. But anytime you hear Dana talking about this guy "not taking this stuff seriously" and "not really applying himself" and stuff like that, the cut could soon follow if a particularly bad performance was given or something.

I mean Dana admitted that Roy pointed at him and yelled something to Lorenzo on Saturday after he won because they had sat him down and talked to him or whatever. I mean if they are having face to face meetings with him, and he had lost on Saturday, they may have well cut him. I guess it could also be argued that the fact that they sat him down to talk means they care.

In the end, Dana doesn't like it because Roy is one of the few guys around who legitimately doesn't give a **** what he thinks. haha

Nelson has a big following. Dana would be stupid to cut him. He also has no reason to cut him. He may never be a champ, but he will put on a show for his fans every night.

Exactly. Dana didn't like Tito either, but he liked the money he made him enough to keep him around. Dana is a smart guy and he is not going to let his personal feelings get in the way of business.

Nelson is one of the 5 most popular HWs in MMA. No chance he is getting cut.
