Prioritizing Team Needs?

Post#1 » by Dan's with the Wolves » Sun May 27, 2012 7:13 pm

Let do a prioritization of current team needs. Vote for a position similar to the way we have voted for mock drafts. First position/role to 5 locks it in and we start the next priority.

Here are the positions and how I see last year's roster
Starting Center (Pekovic)
Starting Power Forward (Love)
Starting Small Forward ()
Starting Shooting Guard ()
Starting Point Guard (Rubio)
Backup Center (Milicic)
Backup Center/Power Forward (Randolph)
Backup Power Forward (
Backup Power Forward/Small Forward (Beasley, Williams, Tolliver
Backup Small Forward (Johnson, Webster)
Backup Small Forward/Shooting Guard
Backup Shooting Guard (Ellington)
Backup Shooting Guard/Point Guard (Ridnour, Barea, Lee)
Backup Point Guard ()

Vote for a Position (first to 5 locks it in)

1. Starting SG (2 votes)

Edit:

And the way I see it, our current team is:

Starters - Pekovic, Love, Rubio (potentially Williams at SF)
Backups - Barea or Ridnour, Lee

Free agents not likely to return - Beasley, Webster, Darko (after amnesty, waiver), Miller
Free agents who might return - Tolliver and/or Randolph
Signed players likely to be traded - one of Ridnour or Barea

That means both backup frontcourt spots and every wing position (except maybe backup SG - Lee) are open. Kind of depressing really.

1. Starting Defense SF (1) Starting SG (2)

I think a good defender/help defender at SF is what Love and Pek need. Crash/Rubio creating havoc on D would solve an awful lot of problems for us.

"That's why the last two years weren't guaranteed," Walsh said. "Either way, he knew it could have happened either way."

For this team to be noticably better than last year...we need a starting SG and a starting SF. It doesn't matter how defensive or offensive they are as long as our SG is bigger than Luke and our SF can make more buckets than Wes Johnson.
