Re: Build-a-Team 7.0 Draft Picks/Trades Thread
REMINDERS:
1. TRADES - As soon as the last pick is made 390, trades will need to fit under the cap. So if you are planning to move big contracts for little contracts or make deals where the contracts wouldn't fit, make sure you make it before the last pick goes up. As soon as 390 is made, all trades MUST fit under the cap using the players LAST salary from 2011-2012. And as always you must always trade an equal number of player/picks as you receive.
2. FREE AGENCY PERIOD (AKA "LAST 3 GUYS", "INACTIVE LIST")- Will figure out a specific date/time that free agency will start. It does NOT start immediately after the 13th round so please DO NOT start listing your free agents choices. They will NOT count. In order to give everyone a chance at free agents to fill out their last remaining 3 spots of the 15 man roster, you will only be able to pick ONE player within a given 24 hour period. Any GM that picks more than one player in a 24 hour period will have that player dropped from his team and available for claiming IMMEDIATELY by another GM.
3. HEAD COACH - Every team MUST have a head coach. That head coach MUST be selected with one of the 13 rounds (NO you can't wait and get a head coach during Free Agency). The head coach WILL be taken into account during judging and impact your team just like a real head coach would impact a real team...so I would strongly suggest not waiting. If you fail to pick a head coach within the 13 picks you have one of your players will be DROPPED and a head coach assigned to your team. As stated in the rules, a head coach MUST have coached in some capacity (as a head coach or an assistant coach) in the NBA during the 2011-2012 season (so no, you can't take Phil Jackson or Rudy Tomjanovich or Coach K, for example).

Correction in this deal. The pick would be 290. pick 297 was traded in a earlier trade.

Re: Build-a-Team 7.0 Draft Picks/Trades Thread
With pick 274 the Bucks select Head Coach Monty Williams.
Monty is a great coach for a young team as he always gets his team to play hard on both ends of the court. Despite being out of it, the Hornets went 8-6 in April and 5-2 in April when Eric Gordon played. They beat teams battling for playoff spots such as Denver, Min, Utah, Memphis, and Houston.
Monty styles himself after Pat Riley whom he played for with the Knicks.

With the 276th Pick in the BAT 7.0 Draft, the Detroit Pistons Select...
DONATAS MOTIEJUNAS
With the top 10 set, might as well go with a super high end prospect that, by most accounts, should be making his debut in the NBA when the 2012-2013 season starts.
Coming into the 2011 NBA Draft, most recognized the talent and potential possessed by the young 20 year old 7 foot Lithuanian. A potential true inside-outside threat that could project to both PF and C in the NBA. But the knock (concern) was that he was soft and that he didn't dedicate himself to building his body up to handle the rigors of NBA life.
Back in late 2010, early 2011, Donatas was still a baby faced player that weighed no more than 215lbs. That was then...

...this is now (more than 20lbs later and a refocused dedication to building his body, to rebounding (currently among the top rebounders in Euroleague), to attacking the basket and being the type of number one option that his potential said he should be...

Blessed with blazing speed and the ability to put the ball on the floor with either hand, Motiejunas has clearly taken the next step towards becoming an elite player. His post game is often times unstoppable, the spin moves leaving opponents in his wake. His rebounding and energy on the defensive end has ratcheted up more than several notches. Even his face-up game has begun to take clear shape with his ability to hit from out by the european 3 point line, his form perfect and lending itself to the potential that he can expand his NBA game out to the 3 point line. A jet quick 7 footer that can post, shoot from deep and drive? Wow.
