I get the feeling there was more talk between the Warriors front office and the press about this trade than there was between the two teams.

Yeah. Lacob seems to be a publicity hound. Especially when it involves his ideas for creating a "winning culture." Problem with his concept of a winning culture is losing credibility.

Having this go our way tomoorrow would certainly make this summer far more exciting.

Any of our bigs, if moved with a lotto pick is a big time package to offer someone, especially in a deep draft.

There may be some of that. I think he does like the attention somewhat. But in this case I think the bigger issue is that he has almost no ability to mislead a reporter. Long before the move to SF was announced, for instance, you could tell it was in the works by the flavor of non-denial Lacob gave.

I believe Lacob thought he was going to get a deal to keep the pick this year, so he just came out and said so, without much thought about whether that was a good idea. The transparency is a mixed blessing - it certainly makes him a must-listen interview, though. He doesn't hide much.
