Welp.

That article seems to be from the Nets side of things, so I can see their motivation for creating buzz around Howard. It may in fact be true, but at this point, until we hear it from the horses mouth I'm not going to get too riled up anymore. Whatever happens.. happens.

Sources: Getting Anthony Davis won't be enough for the Nets to hold onto Deron Williams

All-Star point guard Deron Williams has made one decision about his free agency: If the Brooklyn Nets win the No. 1 pick in the NBA's draft lottery on Wednesday night – and the chance to secure Kentucky center Anthony Davis – it won't be enough for Williams to sign a contract extension, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

"It's Dwight Howard or bust," said a league source who has spoken to Williams.

We should all hope that the nets get the #1 pick. Anthony Davis is better than anything else we could get for Dwight, and if Dwight wants out, this will end this whole situation quickly and with the best college prospect in a while.

I'm officially rooting for the nets to get the 1st pick in the draft...hell I'd be cool with a top three pick because if wojos reports are true then I'm done with howard. Done trying to give him the benefit of the doubt..
The team is in the situation its in..there's nothing that can be done at this point until he makes a decision either way. So figure it the hell out and tell the fo. I'm tired of everyone talking about sell if otis didnt do this or that we wouldnt be in....I don't give a fluck, otis is gone we've moved on and so should howard either here or with another team. Decide.

I won't root for someone to leave in order for Dwight to stay. He's been in a great situation here in Orlando, if he truly can't see that, that's his problem. I like Howard and I honestly don't think he regrets opting-in but if he's waiving after all he said about wanting to stay here, then I don't get it. I hope he finds happiness in what he seeks.

If the Nets get #1 you definitely do that deal with no hesitation. If we shed the bad contract along with Dwight, we'll be big players in free agency. Then we could just sign Bynum instead of trading for him. Anthony Davis/Andrew Bynum frontline. Wouldn't be done yet but that would be a good start.

I really wish we could see the numbers being drawn so we know it is not a "rigged" lottery system

Wish an underdog team like the T-Wolves or Bucks would get the #1 pick just to really mix it up

Dwight/Hedo for Farmar/Brooks/#1 pick

Thats a nice start plus whatever we add with our own 1st, maybe Jameer stays a season to groom kendall marshall, and still have capspace for Bynum/Iggy, S&T Anderson with Jrich, maybe get Brooks with Davis for Hedo/Dwight

2013 possible lineup

Marshall/Farmar/?
JJ or Brooks/Liggins
Iggy/Q/Clark
A.Davis/BBD
Bynum/BBD

Thats a beastly front court

the lottery needs to end so ppl will stop dreaming of the 7% the nets get the top pick. would u be happy with kidd gilcrest? we would need to tank several years for consecutive top 5 picks and hope we turn out like the thunder, thats the only way to truly rebuild.

Here is my analogy on the Dwight Howard situation:

Boyfriend begins to get bored in longterm relationship and wants what else is out there so he takes a break with his girlfriend (asks for trade) , then a little down the road he does not want the baggage and trouble of dealing with an emotional clingy girlfriend (desperate Orlando franchise/fanbase) so he gets back together with her for a little bit to calm things down (Signed ETO). However this is just a short term fix and since he was so set on the other women out there, his heart will never be in the relationship like it once was (Dwight and ORL) and it just won't ever be the same.

BASICALLY once you ask for a trade, it is hard to get your heart back in it. You can bring up Kobe all you want, but he was playing with one of the WORST TEAMS OF ALL TIME, completely different situation.

I have had a strong feeling since the beginning of last yr that Dwight will get traded and signing the ETO was delaying the inevitable (or perhaps a gentlemen's agrement between Dwight and FO so they could get more value by trading him with a full year on his contract) and nothing has been done to alleviate this feeling.

See ya dwight :(

Why would you want someone to stay against his will? If he doesn't wanna be here, then I don't want him here. At least we can rebuild with Davis.

Dwight loves ORL. But it's a career move. If he doesn't see a future here, why stay? I still say this is all on bad management that has squandered assets, making it nearly impossible to improve the team, and apathetic/novice ownership. The minute Alex gave that ultimatum, I knew he was gone. Stay and play in ORL with Hedo? Or play in BK with D-Will? No-brainer there...

I'm not dreaming about it. If they get it then there is no hesistation in making that trade, thats all. You are just upset because you are a Dwight fanboy.

Now that one of the best NBA Insiders has officially said that Dwight is gone, let's start thinking about who we can realistically get in a trade.

Let's assume that the Nets DON'T get a top three pick and therefore don't have a draft pick this season, are we really going to trade Dwight Howard for Lopez, Brooks, and future picks?

REALLY? That would be the worst trade of all-time.

Honestly i would do the Cavs trade

Magic get : Varejao, 2012 pick Cavs pick, Thompson
Lakers get : Howard
Cavs get : Hedo, Bynum

and add fillers
