DX has us taking Bernard James with Indy's 2nd round pick. He's actually 27 years old. I couldn't believe my eyes.

He's an NBA-ready defender/shot-blocker. He'd be a good pick for a contender.

I'm starting to believe that we're trading the pick if we stay in the position were in. Colangelo and Casey desperately want to add some proven talent with some experience... our best way of obtaining that is through a trade - our best realistic trade chip will be that pick. I could see it being involved in a deal along with cap space for Lowry, Gay, Iggy, or someone of that nature. Unless BC falls in love with someone at #8, I think it'll be a part of a deal on draft night.

What happens if someone inexplicably slips to us at 8 that we want?

Pierce, Iggy, Granger, Gay are examples of guys slipping on draft day to 8th and further.

What else goes on at the lottery?

Well, since there’s almost an entire day to kill so GMs and Henchmen and others try to fill it with work.

I’m hearing the HOTH will, along with some other teams, got see Connecticut’s Jeremy Lamb work out somewhere in Manhattan today (no, media not invited) so there are some other things going on besides waiting around.

Don’t read anything more into that than you should. It’s a workout arranged by an agent for select teams and is just part of the draft due diligence process even if Lamb is probably going to be on a Raptors short list depending on how tonight turns out.

DX's mock right now looks like a good consensus given the pre-lottery order. Very logical:

Davis 1, obviously.
MKG 2, as expected.
Cavs don't need to draft Robinson; they have Thompson, so they take Beal, who they are rumored to like.
Then Robinson goes--solid pick to NOH who need everything, basically.
Then Drummond, Mr. Potential, to Sacramento at 5. They need a lot and could take Barnes but the thought of pairing up Drummond, if he works out, with Cousins is pretty awesome.
Portland at 6 doesn't need Barnes as they hope to re-sign Batum, so they take Sullinger to pair with Aldridge.
Golden State gets Barnes at 7, who they are rumored to like, ie. he won't get past them.
Lamb then makes sense for us as we need shooting (and playmaking is a bonus). You can, of course, make arguments for Lillard and PJ3 in our slot.

Who here has seen Fournier play a lot? I watched him play once the previous season and I was completely underwhelmed by his physical presence. He seemed really weak and thin and not much of an athlete.

EDIT: And this was against his age group.

This, You all get sour if he says something discouraging about lamb. We're not supposed to be biased. We need the best talent. So if TRoss is better than Lamb, You take him. Period.

Tough call. "Reach" for a PG? Or move DD to SF? RT @liptas: So you think Raptors are taking SG while they have Derozan instead of PG or SF??

That makes way too much sense. So no. RT @liptas: Wouldn't reaching for Marshall be smart? They need young pg who can run PNR w/Jonas & co

Is he mocking BC? lol

I think i'd cry. Although he was talked as a potential lottery pick. If he wants Marshall he better trade down.

Listened to the full Simmons-Ford podcast.

-Ford compares Drummond to Dwight Howard. Explains how he watched Howard and Tyson Chandler work out pre-draft and there's some similarities in terms of question marks.
-Simmons likes Austin Rivers, but you also get the feeling he has as slim a grasp on college ball as ever.
-Simmons and Ford like Thomas Robinson and MKG as sure things.
-Simmons doesn't know anything about Beal, calls Ford out on Ray Allen/Eric Gordon hybrid comp and Ford cannot defend himself all that well.

I mentioned this in another thread, but the best piece of info was that Portland was apparently willing to give up Gerald Wallace for a mid to late round pick. Chad Ford also said he got an angry email from the Nets after he blasted the trade.

What's funny is that I had lunch with Terrence Ross' agent yesterday. We talked about every possible scenario. Toronto never came up.

A John Wall-lite in the late 1st is one hell of a draft pick.
Basketball is like poetry in motion, cross the guy to the left, take him back to the right, he's fallin back, then just J right in his face. Then you look at him and say, "What?" - Jesus Shuttlesworth
