All of this going by Stephen A. Smith?!?

It's a possibility, sure, but pure speculation. I doubt KG is telling anybody what he wants to do in the offseason in the middle of the conference finals.

That he's friends with Kobe and lives in Socal? The same with dozens of other NBA players. Doesn't mean they're going to play for the Lakers.

Also, I call total BS about the Lakers' interest in Odom. First of all, the Lakers are tight-lipped about their moves. They don't need to send feelers out; they can contact Odom directly. Second, Odom has options, he doesn't need to eat crow and come off the bench for the Lakers when he could start for the Heat.

Lastly, nothing new about D-Ho and D-Will...

That would be the weakest frontcourt in the West as far as contenders go too.

Naw you just didn't read what I posted. I said trade Pau OR trade Bynum, not both, and pair the one that stays with KG and Lamar. If we upgraded to say Deng or some gritty defender/scorer and replaced Pau cheaply with the above then I say that might give our team a needed dimension.

Bynum/KG/Lamar (assuming last year was an aberration) is better than Perk/Ibaka/Collison.

IMO Bynum is set to have a bigger year in 2012-2013, people forget how little responsibility PJ gave anyone not named Kobe/Pau/Fish/LO. Every time I hear the media's he's been in the league 7 years crap I want to barf, he was a luxury for more than half of that. Trading Lamar is what freed him up to step into a 4th quarter role to begin with.

It would be amazing to see KG in a Laker uniform. I honestly prefer him over bynum anytime.

I've heard it through the grapevine..NBA gods have already designated Los Angeles LAKERS as NBA Champions in near future. The destiny is real. TRUST ME.

He plays with more intensity, that's for sure. But KG is on his last leg, Bynum's the future right now.

My dream off-season:

- Pau Gasol, Josh McRoberts to Denver for Rudy Fernandez, Corey Brewer, Wilson Chandler, #20 pick

- Kevin Garnett (3m per season with mini MLE)

- Lamar for the veteran minimum.

- Sessions decides to return, we also bring back Hill.

- Draft Tony Wroten, PG/SG from Washington (being compared to Russell Westbrook by a lot of scouts right now)

PG: Ramon Sessions/ Steve Blake/ Tony Wroten
SG: Kobe Bryant/ Rudy Fernandez/ Andrew Goudelock/
SF: Metta World Peace/ Wilson Chandler/ Corey Brewer
PF: Kevin Garnett/ Lamar Odom/
C: Andrew Bynum/ Jordan Hill/ Troy Murphy

Suddenly our athleticism isn't an issue, we're a more fast paced team and we got as deep a team as any with Chandler, Odom, Fernandez, Brewer, Hill and Blake. You could even amnesty Metta and we'd be in good shape too.

There were some other good nuggets in the interview such as the confirmation that Dwight Howard doesn’t want to come to Lakers, and the belief that Deron Williams will strongly consider remaining with the Nets.

i'll post it in the other thread as to not derail this one

what thread would this be?

Might be old, but they can still play. Should be good for one to two seasons (hopefully).

Let's see a Celtic, and not only a Celtic, but a Celtic who beat us in a championship round? Pass.

Came here to post the same exact sentiment. I think KG's intensity would do wonders for Bynum.

What about the Pau & Metta/Blake for Lowry, Scola & Martin deal. THEN sign KG to the Vet Min (assuming he'd even take it). If he won't take that cheap of a contract, if you trade MWP, amnesty Blake or vice versa.

It's not possible to amnesty someone right after they've been traded, correct? The reason I ask is to think about using the amnesty on Scola to get rid of his contract.

Lowry/Sessions/Blake(*)/Morris
Kobe/Martin/Goudelock
MWP(*)/Barnes/Ebanks
KG/Scola/McRoberts
Bynum/Hill

I'm not looking at the figures now so I'm sure you would have to make some tweaks for financial reasons and depending on who goes in the trades, but it's just a general idea that even after the necessary tweaks, I think looks great. Solves the PG issue, and gives us a SOLID bench. Martin could serve as that Harden, Ginboli, Terry type of instant offense spark off the bench. Brown could bring him in for the 3 and move Kobe down to play Lowry/Sessions, Martin, and Kobe at times. It also puts Sessions back with the bench squad where I think he belongs. He's not a floor spacer and at times he played GREAT with Barnes.

KG pairs WAY better w Bynum than Gasol, not as good of a player at this point, but a better fit

Based on what? KG really doesnt do anything better than Gasol at this point except not shrink the playoffs. KG will be very old next season. They would be better off trying to sign Jordan Hill than wasting the Mini MLE on a dinosaur like KG

KG has one of the best midrange jumpers in the league and it extends farther out. KG is quicker defensively despite being older. With Bynums size I think the Lakers are made stronger defensively with a guy like KG for PnRs.

KG was an All NBA Defender this year. He may be a dinosaur, but he's still a damn good player.

Getting KG for the mini-MLE would be a steal, not a waste. His game was really bought back to life once he got into that C position.
