Re: 2012 NBA Draft Lottery
If we take Beal I hope he pans out as long as EG doesn't trade the pick for rediculousness again

#3 is a great spot for the Wiz. Guaranteed to get either Beal or MKG. Barnes probably deserves a look as well. But one wing position is going to be massively upgraded.

For those that missed it or want to watch it again here's a HD vid of the lottery. At the end Wilbon and company unwrap the annual "conspiracy theory" for public consumption.

To be a Wizards fan
1. You are either a semi-commited part time fan who says meh after a loss.
2. or you have a traumatic brain injury and watch the games without understanding them.
3. or you are willing to annually have your dreams torn from your soul.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Lottery
yea the NBA draft has always been a little fishy but i knew we wouldn't get #1
The NBA had to do something to save the Hornets franchise.
This is a one horse race so I dont see much difference between #2 and #3.
I think MKG is a no Brainer for Charlotte. I would take him in a heartbeat...everyone said kawai Leonard couldnt shoot either and look at him now
I think Beal is a reach at the 2 because hes severely undersized. Its not like hes a DWayde type who is undersize in height but makes up for it in length and athleticism. Beal isnt long and doesnt look like a super athlete. I see some mocks have us taking Drummond but to me that would be a gamble we cant afford to make. Drummond is a project...we have bigs...what we need is a 2 or 3 who can stretch the floor. The other option is we trade size like Blache/Lewis for a shooter.
The pre-draft camp will tell us more becuse how guys like Robinson and Beal measure out will determine how likely they are to succeede in the NBA

Not that I believe it, but the accounting firm has already been connected to plenty of shady dealings in the past.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Lottery
I knew it. I knew as soon as this Dwight Howard business stretched into this offseason that people would be dreaming up one crazy scheme after another that allows their favorite team to get Howard in a hideously one-sided trade.
Please please please knock it off. It's not happening. Orlando is not trading Dwight Howard to Washington for Kevin Seraphin and the third pick in this draft. Please stop it. Please. Just don't do it anymore
Think about something else. Anything else. Stop this madness now.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Lottery
What would you think of use trading the #3 pick to Portland for their #6 and #11?
Ernie could use 6 on Barnes and 11 on PJ3 - assuming they are both still on the board

I think that would be a terrible trade, especially if those were the picks at 6 & 11.

Agreed. I'd rather just stay at 3 and take whoever is left between MKG and Beal. I really don't like Barnes and PJ3.
Eric Maynor is the worst basketball player I've ever seen.

Fair enough...was just floating a thought.
My personal preference is to take Beal over MGK and have a Wall/Beal backcourt for the forseeable future...

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Lottery
I should have left out the word "especially". I don't want PJ3 or Barnes. I think there will be worthwhile players at 6 & 11. At this point, I'd prefer to just stay put at 3 and pick whichever is left from MKG and Beal (or pick between them).

Fair enough...The Ted is already on record as stating that Wiz are not trading the pick

I think Ted is sorta like Arenas -- when he says something, he means it at that moment. Whether he means it later...maybe, maybe not.*
* -- I mean this when referring to things Ted says about his plans for the Wizards, not everything he says. With Arenas, it was everything he said.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Lottery
Us getting the number 3 pick is a blessing in disguise. Hopefully the Bobcats will take Drummond then we can choose between MKG and Beal. I love MKG's motor and he is a Kentucky guy who would be great on the fast break with Wall but the fact that he can't shoot scares me. Beal could be another Michael Redd or a bust because of his lack of size. His shooting is what we need but you never take need over talent so the pick should be MKG. We can find a bunch of role playing shooters in free agency and hope our current players become better outside shooters. With that said I will be happy with either MKG or Beal and upset if we draft anyone else.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Lottery
Anyone see this from the Wiretap article about how disappointed Anthony Davis was with the Hornets winning the Lottery?
So let's see - Anthony Davis was born March 11, 1993. Michael Jordan played his last game for the Bulls on June 14, 1998.
Yeah, those first 5 years were so formative in his psyche - maybe he should be a Wizards fan, since he surely saw more games from Jordan in Blue & Bronze than in a Bulls uni....
Davis, who was raised in Chicago, grew up rooting for Jordan and the Bulls.
