What I've noticed is that it seems to be guys with lower post counts (<1000 or so) that have the most vitriol towards the team. Maybe that's just confirmation bias, but it does seem that way.

Something else that might contribute towards the hate is the MJ connection. Jordan has always been either really hot or really cold with fans so perhaps the haters have transferred that hate to the team?

Another thing may be the "new kid syndrome". We don't have a history and haven't had much of a chance to build any sort of powerhouse team so guys are like "**** 'em".

One would think the Bobcats would be one of the lovable loser teams. For the majority of our short existence (at least up until this year) we've been a team of high effort and tough players who "play the right way". Most people applaud effort...... yet the Bobcats still get a ton of hate.

Also the fact that MJ is our owner and people love to hate on him on realgm mostly because they're Lebron/Kobe/Wade homers and their insecurities get the best of them.

As a franchise of course we have lacked success and Slam is right that we play hard defense, high effort basketball and still got no respect which is confusing considering we always have and always have played "Charlotte" basketball which has always commanded respect (as the Hornets)

i dont think youre hated i just think being that your team has been so awful for so long and has never even acquired a good promising player despite numerous lottery picks, it makes people not want to watch you guys play and i guess start to dislike you. Also the name bobcats is just terrible.

It isn't that we didn't get it, it's that the Hornets, the team the NBA has had a pretty tough time selling, did.

Nothing against Robert Johnson's success, but when he basically named the team after himself, BOBcats, I immediately went into joke mode. And the color scheme plays like something out of a minor league outfit.

I wouldn't go out of my way to hate on them, though...it's not like the Cavs have been much more successful.
