Re: Wiz-Board Draft Poll
Beal, and it's not even close. We already have enough quality big men, so TRob and Drummond are out of the picture.
As much as I like MKG as a player, he just doesn't fit in with our personnel. We need a guy who can shoot the ball, and he simply cannot. It would be a disaster with him and Wall on the court together.
I'd consider Barnes if we were picking like 5th or 6th, but Beal is clearly the better option.

Andre Drummond.
I'd rather gamble that he COULD develop into a star rather than pick "just a guy" at number three.

Re: Wiz-Board Draft Poll
Until Beal's measurements come out I can't fully say the Wizards should pick him. Also I'd see if Presti is interested in Beal. I would trade the 3 pick and Saraphin for Harden. I just don't think OKC is going to max out Harden and I think that's a pretty good trade for someone you're likely to lose in FA.

That's a pretty good trade for both teams if we could extend Harden.
Also agree with Rocky Mac... As much as I love MKG, you just can't pair him with Wall.

Re: Wiz-Board Draft Poll
What a dilemma.....
BRADLEY BEAL
I like the way Beal can shoot the hell out of the ball......I would be hesitant to draft him because of the 6'3 size. I would agree that we need someone who can make consistent shots from all over the court and especially the perimeter. We need a wing player in the starting lineup who compliments Wall in the fact that they can shoot while Wall (hopefully) gets his outside shot together. To me Jordan Crawford needs to come of the bench. I know that he already fits the role of being able to make shots but we NEED his instant offense off the bench and need to guarantee he gets around 25-30 minutes a night. If you look at every NBA championship team they always have a instant offense scorer off the bench. Jordan Crawford fits this role for us.
MICHAEL KIDD-GILCHRIST
I like MKG''s game and think he would develop into a great scorer in the league as well. Right now his outside shot needs improvement but everything else in his game is great. A starting lineup with Wall, ?????? @ SG postion, MKG, Sepharin or Booker, Nene would be dreadful on our eyes for offense. I don't think MKG will be available at the #3 pick as Charlotte will probably pick him up. If he is available at number 3 I would take him before drafting Beal.
THOMAS ROBINSON
I like his game as well, he gives you the motor/energy/effort of a Kenneth Faried but has more offense than Faried. I think he could develop into good 15 ppg 10 rebound guy with some offense as he has the work ethic to develop a good offensive game. A starting lineup with.....Wall, ???? @ SG position, Singleton, Thomas Robinson, Nene would also be hard on our eyes for offense. Drafting Thomas Robinson would also create an issue at the PF position with Booker, Vesely, Sepharin already in the mix.......one of those guys would have to go if we drafted Thomas Robinson.
Harrison Barnes
He fits the role of what we need and would compliment Wall's game. I think he could step into the starting lineup and get 15 points a night on our team. He can knock down shots from all over the court. The big question is how much better is he going to get? I think taking him at number 3 would be a reach when we could probably get him at 5. Starting lineup with.....Wall, ???? @ SG position, H. Barnes, Sepharin/Booker, Nene would make us better on offense in our starting 5.
Jeremy Lamb
He fits the role of what would look nice as a starting SG on our team. He is a good scorer from all over the court and would provide some defense as well with his wingspan of 7'1. He can't shoot the ball as good as Beal but has good outside potential, a better all around scoring game than Beal and would be better than Beal guarding NBA SG's with his 6'5 frame and wingspan. He would be a reach taking him at number 3. We would need to trade back to get him around 7 to be safe. Starting lineup with Wall, Lamb, Singleton, Booker/Sepharin, Nene would be a decent option for us on offense and provide quality on defense as well.
Free Agents I Like
Goran Dragic
Love his game but don't think he would be a great fit for us. He needs to get 30 min a night and that would be hard to do with Wall getting so much time unless he started at the SG position. He reminds me of a smaller Ginobili....he can play the SG postion as well but might be a concern to fill this role as he is only 6'3. A lineup with Wall, Dragic, Singleton, Booker/Sepharin, Nene would be okay on offense due to Dragic's ability to knock down perimeter shots and make players around him better......we might have issues on defense however with Dragic trying to guard NBA SG's.
Danny Green
Has a very nice overall game and can play the SG or SF postion. He would bring offense and ability to make outside shots along with defense guarding NBA SG's. Starting lineup with Wall, Green, Singleton, Booker/Sepharin, Nene would be a nice balance. We might be better suited to draft MKG (if available at 3) in this situation and get offense off the bench from J Crawford. If MKG is not available at 3 I would trade back to get H. Barnes.....that would be a nice lineup as well....Wall, Green, Barnes/MKG, Booker/Sepharin, Nene.
Shannon Brown
I have always liked his game and think he has so much more talent inside him ready to jump out. He could get 15 points a night in this league.

Change Seraphin to Booker and I'd do it.
Seraphin is our only answer at the center spot over the long term. I wouldn't give him away. Booker is much more replaceable.

Re: Wiz-Board Draft Poll
Beal is only 18 years old, Wall has grown what...I'm guessing here, 2-3 inches since we drafted him? Beal still has an inch or two to grow, 6'3'' is ideal size.

Re: Wiz-Board Draft Poll
Bradley Beal, all day, every day.
Loved watching him play in Florida. He has great court sense, plays off the ball incredibly well and is so young that he's only going to get bigger and better.
He will compliment John Wall about as good as anyone in the draft since he isn't ball-dominant and can shoot the three off of the catch-and-shoot.
From what I saw out of him, he's a good defender and as we all know, his rebounding is excellent for a 2-guard.

Beal would have looked even better at Florida if he could have played off the ball more, but circumstances forced him to carry the load as a ball-handler, too.

Ditto. Not sure what is up with all these Seraphin trades. If we've got a decent young low post option other than Seraphin, I'd like to hear more about this remarkable person.

KSera is as close to untradeable (for us) as anyone on the roster (except Wall duh) at least
until his rookie contract expires which will give us all the time we need
to see if his solid play as a starter was just the tip of the iceberg or
a flash in the pan.

Re: Wiz-Board Draft Poll
Beal is the obvious pick and the frontrunner. But, the more I think about it, the more I think Grunfield needs to do his due diligence on a number of players. If MKG has the work ethic he's reported to have, then maybe he will develop a jump shot, giving him a higher upside than Beal. Barnes isn't the prospect people thought he was out of high school, but he does have a jump shot, good size/athleticism, and fits in very nicely in addressing a need for us. I'd cringe a bit at a Drummand pick, but sometimes you have to swing for the fences if you want a team that can compete with the teams still playing today. We could also move down up to 5 spots and still get one these players if EG thinks the gap between them is small, but for the same reason I don't think anyone below us will be that eager to move up.

An SG who can shoot and defend. Or a 4/5 guy who has a real post game.

Beal. I guess MKG if for some reason Beal is gone, though I would entertain a trade down.

Beal - pair him up with Wall and our backcourt is set for another decade.
Sorry, but despite this 'motor' I keep hearing about with MKG, he has no known jumper. Placing him on a team already devoid of that would be akin to drafting Chris Singleton two years in a row...

Just reading that makes me shudder. "Maybe he will develop a ___" is the best way to waste a perfectly good draft pick. If a good jump shooter is what you want, just draft one. Don't draft someone who isn't and then pray.
Beal is a good jump shooter now. Draft him.

Re: Wiz-Board Draft Poll
Two months ago, you couldn't find a single poster who would even consider Drummond. The board was unanimous in disregarding a player who posted such awful numbers despite his incredible physical talent. Back then, I said wait until the workouts - stupid GM's will change their minds. Everyone responded, "no way, only a moron ignores all the actual college performances and only looks at measurements".
Lo and behold, it's already happening. And wait until we see his actual measurements from the combine. He's going to shoot up the mocks like a rocket.
I really think GM's would have much more success if they measured the kids at the start of the NCAA season, and then had the draft about 2 weeks after it ended. Measurements should be viewed as a means of ruling out certain guys who simply lack the length and athleticism to compete at the pro level. College production should then be the primary consideration in how to rank the ones that pass the minimum threshold of athleticism.
