Re: Cavs fan request : swapping #2 for #4
I'd trade:
2nd overall pick
for
4th over all pick, 24th overall pick and the open option to trade future 1st's with the Cavs at any time.

Re: Cavs fan request : swapping #2 for #4
I would be perfectly fine with 2nd overall for 4th overall and 24. However I think we kind of have to wait and see how it plays out. I do see the need for the Cavs to trade up if they want their choice of MKG or Beal. It's probably likely that the Wiz do take either of Beal or MKG (although they have SIngleton from last year and I guess Vessley is more of a PF for them?). If that's how it's going to play out, and you have a strong sense for it playing out that way and Cho has his eyes set on TRob, then you make the trade. I think worst case you would have to think that our big board would consist of Beal, TRob, and MKG anyway. So worst case your left with one of those players and have the extra 24th pick.
So yes, I think I would do 2nd for 4th + 24th mainly because I feel that TRob will still be there at 4 given the interests of Cavs/Wiz. With 24 I think I would even try to combine 24 + 31 to try and move up a few spots and grab Quincy Miller (he may fall to 24, who know's). I think a team like Boston may be interested in dropping a few spot to add the first SECOND rounder because of the money savings it could mean.
If we could walk out of the draft with TRob and Quincy Miller I would be ecstatic.

Re: Cavs fan request : swapping #2 for #4
This scenario will play it's way out, but I think it is the most palatable for both teams. Trading the 2nd for the 4th and 24th picks may seem a large price for Cleveland to move 2 spots, but it is the price you pay. Perhaps we include some juggling of 2nd rounders to improve the deal for the Cavs (swap 31 for 34...not much but it is a concession). I don't want the Sacramento pick...we need players now.
Having said that, everything depends on who WE like. Beal may very well prove to be so good that we want him at 2 anyway. I do not expect any trade to occur until just before or on draft day.

I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Re: Cavs fan request : swapping #2 for #4
Well, thats the issue right there ^^
I feel like giving up 24th is too much for us... I know we are trying to move up to 17-22 with our 2nd rounders to get Quincy Miller / Moe Harkless and I really don't wanna give that up (both are highly underrated, they will be starters in the NBA for sure), we gave up sessions for that stupid pick
We should find a way to make things work, swapping our picks just makes too much sense for both teams!

Re: Cavs fan request : swapping #2 for #4
In the end it might come down to TRob or trading down. Of course trading down to #4 drafting TRob and acquiring #24 (or other picks) might be the best case scenario for the Cats. I'm guessing the Wizards sitting at #3 will have Beal and TRob at the top of their board when all is said and done.
All of these wings have holes in their games and are not worth the #2 pick, at least for the Bobcats who need so much more than one complimentary wing player. Both the Cavs and Wizards have potential all star PG's and big holes at SG so can see how they would love to add Beal. IMO he isn't a big enough upgrade over Hendo for Cho to seriously consider him.

Re: Cavs fan request : swapping #2 for #4
there is definitely something here and it makes sense for both teams. cavs also have a lot of assets that would appeal to bobcats. i think something could easily be worked out if both teams were motivated.
my gut tells me the cavs would probably try to hold firm at only offering 4+24. the bobcats would probably try to pry away another asset, but might relent in the end if they really didnt have much of a difference between trob, mkg or drummond and knew they would still get one.

Re: Cavs fan request : swapping #2 for #4
I think there definitely won't be anything more than 4th + 24th, which is already good enough if you ask me...
All in all, it looks like that's what's going to happen, if a trade was to take place! But that's only assuming our target is beal, because i believe mkg will end up falling to 4th
Anyway, thank you for sharing your thoughts with me, feeling like a GM

I'd rather have Beal.

If Charlotte prefers Beal or MKG to Robinson, they'll just use the #2 on him. If they like Robinson as much as the two wings, and you have to think they do, the #2 -for- #4 and #24 makes so much sense for both teams. The difference in talent between a #24 pick and those early 2nd rounders is small enough that the Cavs can spare the #24.
It won't happen until draft night, though. (Also known as the "0.00000001% chance that New Orleans is on acid that night" factor).

seems the trade talk the the prospect talk is getting blurred into one thread. i thought it would be good to separate the two discussions. and since we already had this one going, why not use it.

scoop jackson suggest the bobcats should go after a trade for davis.
what do you guys think it would take to get him and would it be worth it?

It would take a lot and it would not be worth it. We'd be terrible with no chance of getting better (b/c we'd lose all our draft picks) and Unibrow would get tired of losing and bolt after his contract.

this, probably. We already owe a pick to the Bulls so that also limits our ability to trade our own picks significantly.

which trade down idea do you like best?
portland - 6 and 11 for 2?
cavs - 4 and 24 for 2?
warriors - 7 and 30 (and something else?) for 2?

I like the idea of getting two lottery picks for one with Portland but I just don't see great talent 6 to 11. With the Cavs we still would be guaranteed one of Beal, MKG, Robinson. I'd love to pick up T-Rob and add BPA wing at 24. Or possibly package 31 and 24 and get someone whose slipped from the lottery.

Re: Trading the #2 pick - dicussion
After the 'prize' of the draft, Anthony Davis, I only see 3 blue chip prospects in TRob, MKG, and Beal. Of course Drummond can reach that status if his workouts and interviews go well. At this point I would not consider trading down any farther than 4 where you can still get a blue chipper. Once you get down to the 6th pick you have to start considering prospects that are a tier lower such as Barnes, PJ3, Lamb, etc.

I concur, keeping a top 4 pick is smart and adding an extra could be nice... though right now I think I just like Robinson and want him to be the pick.

Yes I also think the Wizards could take TRob when all is said and done. It would be a risk to assume they would pass on him. I think Robinson has a good chance to be ROY and don't buy all the hype on Beal (although do believe Beal will be a good player too).
It's just a risk to trade down to 6 or 7 even in a supposed 'deep' draft. The history of the #6 pick in past drafts is not good.
