Sergio Llull Update

Post#1 » by Raptor_Claw » Tue May 1, 2012 6:58 am

A couple of months ago, Real Madrid's head coach said that the team's one season experiment of trying to convert Sergio Llull into a point guard, from a shooting guard, was not working out as well as he had hoped, and that next season he would like for Llull to return back to his natural shooting guard position. He said that he would like for the club to sign another point guard, to pair along with Sergio Rodriguez. At the time, Spanish media mentioned Bo McCalebb and Dontaye Draper as the possible signings.

This news seems to be confirmed now, as Spanish media has reported that Real Madrid has agreed to pay a buyout to Cedevita for Draper, and that he will be signed to play point guard for the next 2 years. Meaning that, Llull will indeed be moved back to the SG position full time.

so now there's absolutely no chance that lol (lol) will play in the nba, at least as a rotational player for the rockets?

since im bored (and maybe high as the sun, moon, stars and weezy) i just thought of a "funny name" lineup

pg - sergio lol
sg - oj mayo
sf - luol daaaaaaaaaaaaaaang
pf - metta world peace
c - nene the hilarious one

imagine hearing the pregame starting lineups...

who wants the laugh out loud with sergio lol at point guard
dont forget your oj and mayo at shooting guard
at small forward, its luol...daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang
your starting power forward, formerly known as ron artest...metta, world, PEACE (play the elbow video)
and finally at center, 6'11 250lbs of comedy, its nene, the hilarious one

i'd prolly die laughing if that happened

While I respect all of the analysis of his game over there, I am more curious to know what the Rockets currently think of his potential/capability.

They think he's the second coming. However, they are wrong.

How much is his buyout? Can we trade Kevin Martin to Real Madrid for him?
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Is it weird that I want Sergio to come over and put on a clinic just to spite this dude?

Uh, no. I never did any such thing. I like him as a player. He's better than Dragic. All I said was he is NOT a point guard, which he isn't. Rockets fans and Daryl Morey think he's a point guard - but he isn't.

No one in Spain thinks he's a point guard.

He's a good player, but he is not a point guard.

And again, I respect your opinion of him; but I'm more interested in what the Rockets might see as his role here.

Real Madrid's manager said they will also bring in another point guard in addition to Draper. So, Llull isn't playing PG.

Llull has already been switched back to the SG position by his coach, during the Spanish League playoffs.

Navarro was named to the All-Euroleague Team for the 6th time. Llull was not on it. Llull has made the team once in his entire career.

Copa del Rey isn't a league. It's a 3 game tournament.
