Something a long those lines. Then this coming year is a wash in terms of salary. Then you have two years in which Gay and Thomas' deals would both have left. If you take what we would had already been paying Thomas regardless then it's the equivalent of paying about 9 million more for Gay in 2013/14 and about 10 million more for Gay in 2014/15.

In 2013/2014 it would leave us with about 28 million in committed salary (including this years picks and that years picks) That is still plenty of cap room to make moves. We would have Henderson that we would have to make a decision on and Mullens too, but we would have plenty of money to play with and with the addition of Gay we would have a young prolific scorer already in place.

Sure you could just amnesty Thomas, but MJ would still have to foot the bill. I doubt anyone is going to pick up a significant portion of his contract if we amnestied him. All I'm saying is paying an extra 9 million and 10 million for Gay is well worth it, especially when it impacts our future cap space very little. That's almost 30 million dollars in cap space we would still have while already potentially having Kemba, Biz, Gay, and Davis (we hope) in place. It's not a bad deal. And Gay is young enough that he can still grow with our young guys and be with this team when they are ready to compete. I mean if Kemba can continue to learn how to be a real PG, you would have to really like the starting lineup of Kemba, Hendo, Gay, Davis, Biz. That has all kinds of potential with a potential star in Davis, his borderline all star side kick in Gay, good defensive players in Biz/Hendo, and that 3rd tier scorer in Kemba. Add some bench players to that and it has the makings of what could be a special team.

You make some good points...i'd rather take Gasol's contract if we are going to pay that kind of money. We don't have anything LA wants so it's pointless...but I'm not sure what else Rudy does other than score ...when I look at his contract two words come to mind....Joe, Johnson

I have to admit I'd rather have Gay than Johnson. He'll still be good when his contract is in its final year.

I'd rather just draft well and get a Rudy Gay type player on a rookie deal and let Tyrus rot away or potentially turn his career around.

    Remember when we had the chance to draft Gay and passed for Adam Morrision?
Do we want him and big contract now?. Only if we could dump TT contract. If Augustine is included then we need a point guard back? Josh Selby? and we dump Carroll and Higgins. We need to keep Mags/Diop Expiring to sign FA in 2013 either Ibaka or Harden from OKC. Otherwise you keep him.

Yeah but ask yourself this question...Had we drafted Rudy Gay, would he still be a Bobcat today? The answer is no. He likely would have either left in FA or Larry Brown would have traded him for Adonal Foyle and Orlando's lead ball boy.

Exactly, and Joe Johnson is owed 25 MILLION DOLLARS AT AGE 35.

lmao stun, a book could be written using your posts.

I particularly like this one:

if you flip a coin 3 times and it was tails each time, there is a greater probability that the 4th time you flip it it'll be heads since there is a 50/50 chance. Take a statistics class and maybe you'll understand what i'm talking about.

To the OP.......... No.

To steal something I heard on the radio....the state of NC would vote down a trade for Gay.

The statistics reminded me a Bud Spencer film when the coinflip ended up with coin being stolen airborne by seagull - no head, no tail :)

You would just keep him for 2 seasons and then trade him for more than what you got him for.

Basically all we want is Maggette,Augustin and fillers.

Raps want RudyGay. We want him bad lol

how about #8, one 2nd round pick ed, davis and james johnson
