It's unfortunate but it seems like so much of this simulation relates to draft order. People on here talk so much about how a superstar is necessary to win a championship, so it seems like the top 10 pickers are going to have a huge advantage from the start.

How likely is it that judges are going to choose a team whose best player is (Insert name of second tier star) over a team whose best player is Lebron. I guess I'm just asking veterans of this game, in years past is it always someone at the top of the draft who wins or has anyone ever crafted a good enough supporting cast to win with a low pick in the first round.

The 30th team last year was a top 3 team. Does being in the top 10 help? Yeah, but I wouldn't even want to be in the top 10...much more fun actually trying to build a team than to build around a player.

Nah, not really. It all depends on how well the GM drafts his players. For instance, someone could take Lebron with the first pick, but without knowing how to build around him, that team would not be any sort of a lock to even make the conference finals. Take a look at Miami last year, they had 2 superstars & one all star, yet they lost against a team that won games mainly based on chemistry & magnificent team work. Yea, they had Dirk, but the pieces AROUND him (Tyson, Terry, Kidd, etc.) all played a huge role. My point is, if someone thinks that only 1 draft pick will make the final difference in determining the best team, they are mistaken.

Basically, just put your focus on drafting a team that YOU think will have a chance to contend.

Jruggie if you're interested in moving your 1st round pick I'd trade you something involving my 2nd and 3rd round picks? If you don't think there is a superstar at 18 you could always go with the "Detroit Pistons" model of a team full of really good players.

Cool, just wanted to know. I'm not even that concerned with winning anyway. I just want to see if I can build a solid team. Hoping I don't choke, when the player I was waiting for is taken the pick before me and suddenly I'm on the clock.

Numb3rs, don't think I'm looking to trade out of the first round. I don't think I'll want to make any deals until after I have my first pick and I have some idea how I'm going to construct my team.
