Yup. Just like I said. It all comes to LeBron.

And yeah, Kobe is a beast. True.

To you, it's all about changing your criteria to keep Kobe on top. In 2007 he won 25 less games than Dirk.

Post your empty Kobe stats from that regular season, Dirk was better because won more. Dirk.

Beast.

Who cares about big scoring games in the regular season against bottom feeding teams?
He wasn't doing that in the playoffs and was rarely doing them against the better teams in the regular season.

Here, lets look at 2007.
These are all the games he had with 40+ points.

CHA
MEM
UTH
NOK
WAS
BOS
SAC
POR
HOUx2
MINx2
LACx2
GSWx2
SEAx2

Mostly bottom feeding sub .500 teams.
Kobe was padding his stats against them ala Wilt Chamberlain.
It's just much less impressive when you realize that.

Remember Shaq's effortless 62 against LAC?
Great scorers can put up big scoring nights against weak teams if they want but most dont.

Kobe has 25 50+ point games compared to Shaq's 3, want to talk about weak competition? Shaq's 61 point game came against the 15-67 Clippers and his 53 point game was against the 20-62 Timberwolves.

Not all of us measure player talent by the "how many 50 point games did he have?" metric.

Shaq has more 40 point games in the playoffs then Kobe does.
That's pretty funny when you think about it especially since Shaq played in less games and was never a volume shooter the way Kobe was.
:o
:)
Kobe can keep the title of best stat padder against weak regular season fodder.

You know what else is pretty funny? The fact that Kobe has more 40 point games in the playoffs, funny how you stoop to making things up now.

Actually he doesn't.
Last time I checked Shaq had around 12-13 and Kobe had 10.

Maybe he equaled or surpassed Shaq this year since I recall Kobe put up another game or two of 40+ points.
Not sure really but even so it shows that Kobe has no edge over him as a volume explosive scorer.

Would love to (if I could) check the efficiency on those games also where I am sure Shaq has an absolutely enormous edge.
Would also love to see the W/L records in those games another area where I am sure Shaq has a sizable if not enormous edge.

Check again because Kobe has more 40 point games, also has more 30 point games. Also there is no significant difference in terms of efficiency, Shaq usually shot terribly from the line while Kobe is a great ft shooter also solid 3 point shooter.

Where do you get those numbers from?
As I said last I checked (last year) Shaq had 2-3 more 40 point playoff games then Kobe did.

Unless you can show me actual proof I can't just take your word for it.

I think Shaq has had 12 total in his career (11-1 record) and Kobe now has 13 (2 this year and a 10-3 record overall). No clue when it comes to efficiency, don't feel like doing it right now.

They don't have a list for those stats.
I guess I could manually count them going year by year but damn that would be a pain in the ass.

Either way I know they are about equal which kind of ruins your point that Kobe was better at scoring higher point totals against real opponents especially since Kobe is a volume shooter and O'neal in truth is not.

You can go look up how Dr J carried a team of nobodies to a title in 1976, just like Kobe did in 2005-2007... oh wait.

Maybe you should check this out first... notice all the inside play, rather than fadeaway jump shots clanking off the glass. Being stronger, bigger, more athletic, being able to palm a ball, etc, probably helps...

Yeah Kobe choked big time letting his team lose when they were up 3-1. He then vanished in game 7 like he usually does.

Nash must have had a vastly superior team that year... not two SF's playing PF and C, and Kobe's help must have sucked... Odom played bad that series, right?

I love how posters here talk about Kobe stat padding when his comparison had his best years in the ABA in one of the fastest eras in basketball. In 1975-1976 in the ABA, Erving averaged 29.3/11/5 on 56.9 TS%. Than NBA comes around and in just one year, Erving dropped to 21.6/8.5/3.7 on 55.3 TS%, which is quite pedestrian in all-time great standards. In his first 5 years in the ABA, he had over 27 ppg EVERY YEAR and over 10 rpg EVERY YEAR. In the last 11 years in the NBA, he only had 1 year close to 27 ppg (26.9) and he NEVER once hit 10 rpg in 11 years in the NBA. Talk about watered down competition and stat padding.

Yeah exactly, who would think that Barbosa/Kobe/Marion/Diaw/Amare would do better than Smush/Kobe/Walton/Odom/Kwame?

Yup, Amare played for the Suns in 06... oh wait.

And please, look up the circumstances of Erving coming to the NBA before you make uninformed comments about them.
