NYKGM's prediction is coming true, he said this kid would come out of nowhere, well Ivan Nova has just stepped into rising prospect status :)

I'd like to see more strikeouts but the command for a 20 year old is just outstanding.

Rodriguez isn't worried about his bat

Playing as a 19-year old this season, Gerardo Rodriguez has proven to be one of the better all-around hitters in his short career thus far, hitting for both power and average in the Dominican Summer League and Gulf Coast League the past two years. There was one big question that continued to face Rodriguez however. Where does he fit defensively?

I'm not as worried about his Ks as cmaff is. He isn't your prototypical K pitcher, he pitches to contact somewhat. He doesn't have a 5 pitch arsenal as most strikeout pitchers, he beats hitters by putting the ball exactly where he wants it and not leaving anything out over the plate. So when hitters do make contact, its not in a place where they can rip the ball, so it leads to an out.

- Hilligoss extends his hit streak to 31 games
- Robertson - 2 innings, 0 hits, 1 BB, 3 Ks (not sure why he is still in Charleston)
- Kennedy - 5 innings, 5 hits, 2 runs, 1 BB, 8 Ks
- Britton - 1.2 innings, 0 hits, 1 BB, 2 Ks (why isn't he on the ML roster over the scrubs in our bullpen????)

I believe the official reasoning is while Britton has a very good live fastball, his other stuff is not enough to support that. Basically, they say hitters will wait for his fastball and take him deep. -Jitpal

He had a very strong rookie season, and with Vizcaino ruining every single game that he pitches in, Britton can only be better.

Oh, I'm not saying that I agree. I'm just talking about what I remember. He had a 3.30 ERA last season with the Orioles. He can't possibly do worse than Farnsworth and his mid-5s ERA. -Jitpal

I think a better way to judge relievers is by WHIP...a lot of times relievers don't get to finish an inning and someone else is responsible for their runners on base. For example, when Vizcaino comes in in the middle of an inning he often lets runners inherited score. Vizcaino makes me dream of the Jeff Nelson days

Joba is slowly turning into an untouchable. He was hitting 94-95 on the gun consistently with his fastball and flashing a plus slider and a very good curve.
