I know this has been beaten to death but....

Post#1 » by NBA Fiend » Mon Jun 4, 2012 1:39 am

I am wondering what you would consider a fair trade for you know who, mister Smith. Come with me on my trip to fantasy island. Suns secure Smith sign Deron and make it an interesting situation for Dwight the following year. I know it's a bit delusional but since the Suns have been on a downward spiral all the fanbase has to cling to is the hope for a brighter future. One where they will rise from the ashes much like the Phoenix and once again shine. Okay I have composed myself. Would you consider this one?

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=7uydjgx And perhaps swap picks.

Alex might like this one.

no to both trades. I would do the first one maybe if you had a higher draft pick and included it. maybe we could get a third team involved with a higher draft pick, top 5.... maybe send them your pick and our pick..... with us getting into the top 5.

No, but how about:

Joe for Dudley

or

Hawks get Dudley
Suns get David Lee
Warriors gets Joe

Why do you keep wanting to give away a starting shooting guard for a bench player? For all Joes faults, you have to admit that Dudley is a major downgrade, right?

I would do Josh Smith and our #23 draft pick for Gortat, Channing Frye and PHX's #13 pick.

We get a big, strong capable starting Center and a mismatch PF off the bench who can pull out opposing big men to the perimeter and hit open threes similar to Ryan Anderson or Kawhi Leonard.

Basically, imagine Frye putting up all those open threes that Josh Smith loves to put up.

We have depth at Center and PF and a lottery pick.

PHX gets a young star to build around and use to attract other star to the desert.

You really don't see the value of a $20 million vs a $4 million contract?

2012 free agents: Jamal Crawford, Nick Young, Gerald Wallace, Chase Budinger, Damien Wilkins, Louis Williams, Courtney Lee, Jodie Meeks

2013 free agents: Monta Ellis, Tyreke Evans, James Harden, Kevin Martin

So you are like the only Hawks fan who doesn't want to get ride of Joe's contract?

Almost all those guys are downgrades defensively and the only offensive upgrades would be Monta Ellis. Evans is a PG, Martin needs lots of offense devoted to him, Harden is a RFA meaning overpay...

I'm sticking with Joe Johnson to matchup with Dwyane Wade. Sticking to the guns here. The main mistake was adding more guards and moving Johnson off that 2 guard spot.

IE Pierce vs Johnson = fail.

I'd do either trade without fail. Gordat is a C, signed for an extra year at a reasonable salary. Dudley is a glue guy that provides what Marvin does at a lower price and with more confidence. Warrick does little for me, but the cap savings of dropping Marvin for him is nice. Maybe enough to use MLE for 3rd guard or swingman. I'd love the pick switch as well because it might land someone like Tyler Zeller to develop behind Gortat.

New lineup:
Jeff Teague
Joe Johnson
Jared Dudley
Al Horford/Ivan Johnson/Warrick
Marcin Gortat/Zaza/Tyler Zeller
Going to donkey punch a leprechaun!

Out of your FA list...which SG you gonna get without paying the max...

Harden - MAX (and he's restricted)
Evans - MAX (and he's restricted)

We still won't be under the cap to even offer the max....or even $10M a year to Ellis or Martin.

I don't want to keep Joes contract, I just want more than one bench player for him.

In the proposed trade to the nets we get a servicable big, a servicable backup point guard and two servicable shooting guards and a first round pick.

In trading for Dudley we would get...well...one decent shooting guard.

so 3 positions and some depth or one guy....hmmmmmm.
