Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXV: Offseason Edition)
so basically we want to hire a company lapdog.......wow man.....IDK.....i'm starting to finally come to terms that we might not be the best run franchise....Don't know if they're taking the draft seriously which in a way i can understand with Dwight being the priority....but i would of liked something in place before the draft Combine....but i can deal i guess.....

I really think this is all Speculation. I don't really believe a word of it. Media has been soo wrong on just about everything concerning the Magic.

Just wish for once they'd not want to promote or hire within. They need to think outside the box. I mean if theyre just going to uae him as a pawn why the **** are we waiting to hire a coach?

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXV: Offseason Edition)
a lot of panic threads here guys, dont you think we should give whoever we hire the benefit of the doubt for a least 12 months!
It seems like a lot of our fans have this feeling we are obligated to get the best going, when really and truly what do we have an injured center who wants out, a roster of bad contracts, and a new arena. We are a mess...

Just doing my job man. We need a contrast since everyone sees some Speculative Media report and act like the world is ending. As if the Magic office and ownership are actually approaching this team the way that article proposed. I seriously doubt it man.
Well, at least if most people have that low of expectations, then they will be happy when the end result is much better than anticipated at this rate.
Trust me. The Magic are looking for a very experienced GM that can handle all basketball related issues. Martins is just a business man who will not be hands on involving basketball related issues. Trust me on this one. Don't believe media reports with no names sources. They are just writing stuff to keep their job also. Just think of it like Otis Smith is writing an article because he likes to keep his job and it won't seem so bad.

Fixed. This has a better chance of actually happening.

I would like the Magic to keep Dwight and trade Duhon, but I think there is still a better chance of keeping Dwight and Trading Duhon than giving up a chance at winning a title by trading for Jordan/Blake and Williams, because those guys are still not worth Dwight.

Dude, that deal is a steal for Dwight, and Dwight isn't staying. I hate to tell you this, but silence speaks VOLUMES! Dwight hasn't said a word, hasn't denied any of the rumours, even D-Will has spoke out for NJ and he is a free agent.

If we rush our picks for these positions you can certainly begin writing your goodbye letters to Dwight.
nothing in life that is worth a damn, comes fast and/or easy, SO SHUT THE HELL UP!

No one is asking the process to be rushed. Its been over a month though and we've barely started the interview process for GM's, let alone coaches. This isn't the NFL or MLB where there are months between the end of the championships and free agency/draft. Things in the NBA have to be done faster than any other league. Hell, whoever is in the finals has less than a week to prepare for the draft. Football just had there draft 4 months after the end of the season. The magic also wasted two weeks deciding the fate of Otis and Stan. Otis should have been a no brainer and so was Stan if the plan was to try and retain Dwight.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXV: Offseason Edition)
Lopsided speculation on Bower getting the job when common sense would say if it was his job, he'd have been hired already since he already knows Alex.
10 mil for Nash, 3 years, no thanks.

Anyone that wants Bower as a GM needs to read:

Nothing inspiring AT ALL.

I don't think he really made very made "bad" moves, I just think it's sort of run-of-the-mill. The PJ Brown + JR Smith for Tyson move was solid....but then trading him for Okafur wasn't the greatest. Selecting Collison late in the draft was a good move. Like I said, nothing horrendous really but nothing that will really blow your hair back too much. I don't know why EVERYBODY is riding Alex Martin's jock from the get-go to be quite honest.....he hasn't really done anything basketball related in his career. He got an arena built. He is a business guy, a salesman.....not a basketball mind.

I agree, 10M a year for 3 years for Nash is way too much. I prefer to stay put and make a run at 2013 Free Agency.
10 days to Nelson decide his own fate too. Will he come back?

Dude, don't even bother. He said before Dwight is the least likely player to get traded in the NBA. He also said "real magic fans" know Dwight is guaranteed to stay.

Martins even admitted he isn't a basketball guy, but a business guy. He will leave all Basketball decisions to whomever he hires as GM. Trust me on this one.
