It's good that you found a benefit in video games for yourself.

I travel for business and for my company so that's not being selfish.

Video games can be a stress relief like doc said, but sitting down in front of a computer/tv screen isn't healthy. The body works better standing up and moving. Too much video games can lead to obesity if you eat, then sit down for too long not burning off any calories.

For me, there's not enough benefits and plenty of negatives to steer me away from it.

Damn man, how much work did you have to put in to get her to like baseball like that? That sounds like a blast. I want to hit every stadium before I die, so far only knocked off the SoCal stadiums and Old Yankee stadium. lol I'm happy for you man, congrats!

i mean, watching the damn lakers game is a waste of time too all things considered by sofa's definition.

Being a Laker fan is different. I get to bond and converse with friends, online people, and strangers about sports. I found more people to talk to about sports than video games especially in real life. For me its more fun.

Don't get me wrong, video games is just another form of entertainment like everything else. I just don't see the benefit in keeping up with it.

you can do the exact same thing with video games, when i went off to college i wasn't really that into video games and the floor i moved into was full of gamers, now i've got a bunch of friends that i can talk about games with all the time

books and movies are also similar forms of entertainment do you not keep up with them either?

oh yeah, thanks man. i had been sitting on it for a while now, tried to sell high and get one of his minor pitchers too while uggla was red hot during that stretch, but he didn't jump. then halladay went down and i really didn't have a choice but to cave in. him getting uggla was what made him drop phillips a while back, he would've been screwed if i had traded uggla elsehwere.

i didn't expect getting garza, he's just icing on the cake.

I read, which is beneficial in many forms, and watch movies. It's a common interest that I found that I can share with many people.

For video games, there can be a certain culture and I've found some people, but not enough. Often, video gamers and I don't share much interest in anything else especially if I don't play the same game and types of games. For example, I use to play Final Fantasy XI online. Even my friends who play told me it's better to quit and play or do something else.

One benefit I can mention is that video games do create a lot of enjoyable music. I've been to plenty of concerts for video games in Los Angeles.

Again, directing back to me, being in Asia, video games is not very common especially when you discuss about games on XBox Live/PS3, etc. People here play different games for the most part and in their language like Mandarin/Vietnamese.

Ever since I've quit playing video games, gave away my XBox 360, PS3, DS to my friends, I've enjoyed my life much better and felt I've experience more. There's more of a satisfaction in life. I don't have that feeling that I wasted my life in front of a tv screen even if I was playing with my friends. I like to think now I rather spend quality time in person with friends than in front of a screen.
I rather speak about my travels, business, success in life and family than what I've played in a video game. Hope you understand my feelings about this and not the fact I'm speaking poorly about video games in general.

I agree that its best not to generalized. I just simply reply on what I felt about it since someone did post about it first. Trust me, I've played video games for the most part of my younger life.

Like in anything, if I told someone what they believe in, what they like is completely and utterly wrong or a waste of time, that person would get defensive. Whether its in video games, politics, religion, and sports, people will have their opinions.
