Is Marcus Morris any good? I remembered he said last year he compares himself to Carmelo and was just checking out if he is any good. His stats isn't good but I want to know Houston fan's opinion of him is since stats don't tell the whole story.

Can't really say at this point. Morris couldn't play himself into the rotation.
There is some thinking that the Rockets desire to play him at the 3 instead of the 4 may be misguided. Problem is that there is currently depth at those two positions that has earned PT.

He did hit a game winning 3 pointer in the final game of the year but other than that he's been a disappointment to say the least.

Just sayin.
I think 37.3 is objectively bad, but I'd like to see how he stacks up against others on iso. Apples to apples right?

Here is what made Morris interesting at the Big 12. (As a Lawrence KS resident, I got to see him a lot).
He's long for his position (tweener), he's got a good turn around J, he's a mismatch in his favor if he gets to post up on the block against a SF and he's okay at the elbow spots. He can drive right, his handles are okay for a 4 (not for a 3), he's strong enough to play 4 on defense and he's quick enough to play the 3 on offense.
Often times Self will have both Morris brothers on the floor. His twin brother did most of the dirty work, so I would say the Jayhawk offense covered up a lot of his flaws.
What makes him work in College and in the Big 12 in particular also is that he has an interesting combination of size, skillset and athleticism. Like many Jayhawks that were drafted around that time, his 'interesting' attributes are really not going to make him stick out as much in the NBA. He needs to start specializing on something soon.
Offensively, his length helps him out and he has a good stroke. I don't remember him going left much. As a 3, he is athletically adequate but if he is going to hang out more on the block, he'll have to get more moves down there since there are more than a few small forwards who are 6-8+ with 220 pounds nowadays. I also remember thinking that he'll have to work on defensive foot work if he wants to do well at the 3.

I still think we should try to trade Morris to Philadelphia for the 15th pick.
They need help at PF and he's from Philly originally.
One mock has Philly taking Terrance Jones and another has them taking Arnett Moultrie.
I think MM is comparable in talent to both those guys.

Yeah, but he's also older, and imo has less upside. Though, I would love to trade him for the 15th pick tough.

he stil got potential. didnt get much of a chance to prove himself in his rookie year. i definitely wanted someone else when we were up to pick, but w/e. we know how morey and mchale have closet perverted fantasies about undersized bigs.

Re: 2011-2012: Around the NBA
judging by the rotations in the last month of the season, no, they dont think much about big black guys. but when they see that 6'8 220lb undersized power forward, they cant help but foam at the mouth with all the disadvantages they'll give this team. how couldnt they? patrick patterson single-handedly took the rockets out of the playoffs.
you see, instead of formulating an evil genius, mastermind plan to tank the season, they thought outside of the box. during a front office meeting, mchale and morey were being their usual selves, rambling on about how we need more undersized bigs. as a joke, mchale said "hey why dont we just play patterson at center? we could finish games like that."
after a few laughs, the room got silent. and then les stood up, slammed the table with his hands, and yelled "THAT IS A **** BRILLIANT PLAN!!! you just got yourself an extension."
and there you have it. everyone cheering, popping champagne bottles and whatnot. too bad we still got the 14th pick
