Re: What does it take to get Al Jefferson?
According to our sixers insider on our forum the Sixers are talking with Utah for Jefferson

we have talked to utah about jefferson and earl watson in an iguodala deal. nothing close...just conversation....will have plenty more talks with utah and other teams as we get towards end of month. Not sure if there were other parts to that deal..but we kinda like Watson as a backup to Jrue apparently.

Iguodala for Al makes too much sense to ever happen.

What's our cap space look like next summer if we take on Iguodala?

What does it take to get Al Jefferson?
Who we targeting next summer?
My concern is making sure we take no big contracts that last longer than two years which is when our kids will start getting paid. So iguodala works.
Do you ask because of Harden? I've occluded that's a pipe dream.
They'll amnesty Perk before they let him go.
He's a pipe dream that every team wants.

What a fantastic deal this would be to balance both teams rosters out.

Chasing restricted free agents is usually a bad idea.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Re: What does it take to get Al Jefferson?
It only makes sense that Philly and Utah would talk about that deal. It makes sense in a lot of ways for both teams. I just wonder if Philly will get a better offer from another team. You guys are bound to have plenty of suitors for Iggy and I'm sure someone will be willing to overpay.
I think if the Lakers offer Gasol for Iggy, it'd be pretty hard to say no.

Supposed maxims like this one dominate sports, but they're so easy to disprove!
I offer you Chris Paul for Hasheem Thabeet. One is clearly big, the other is clearly small. You're saying you automatically reject my proposal?
Like most rules of thumb, there are conditions. This guideline is generally used when players are roughly equivalent.
Would you trade Dwight Howard for Chris Paul? Both are perenial all-stars.
Guarantee Orlando jumps all over that. They would probably even through in Mickey Mouse and lifetime passes to Universal Studios Orlando for that. But, of course, LA doesnt need that so they would say no.

Iggy for Al Jeff straight up would be great for me, I like that trade for both teams. Sixers get a scorer and reduce some of their glut at the wing/tweener positions, Jazz get some versatility and the possibility for some absolutely freakishly athletic and long lineups next year.
Get it done!

Iggy's FT's stink, and his FG % is average at best!. And we have Milsap that is developing nicely as the role that Iggy would take. With that said, I might do it but, Philly would have to throw in a good first rounder at the very least possibly a second and another role or back-up player.
Go ReAL!

Right now we have just over $16 mill in player options next year (Favors, Kanter, Hayward, Burks). Iguodala's player option for 2013-14 is $15.9 mill--so we basically go from $16 mill to $32 mill--which is still in pretty good shape since the salary cap will be in the $58 mill range unless it changes much from 2011-12/2012-13.
