Sorry the chart is messed up but If I am understanding this correctly, Memphis would have to take back about $11 million regardless of who they trade with.

This is from the new CBA? I mean we traded Amare away 2 years ago for nothing but a TE.

Memphis don't have to take back anything - those values are the MAX incoming salary. There is no minimum incoming salary if the other team has enough cap to take on the contract outright.

Memphis don't have to take back anything - those values are the MAX incoming salary. There is no minimum incoming salary if the other team has enough cap to take on the contract outright.

I think Gay is grossly overpaid and as Memphis has shown, they are just as good if not better without him. I'd much rather take a chance in the draft for a Quincy Miller or a PJIII and if it's a mistake, at least it wouldn't be a cap killer.

It was mentioned in another thread, about NOLA's desire to package #10 and either Ariza or Okafor.... and I'm actually interested in Okafor for one, specific reason - it makes Gortat movable.

Follow me here:

Trade #1 - Gortat to POR for Crawford (S&T) + #11
Why? POR would love to add Gortat, Crawford is on his way out and has expressed explicit interest in PHX as a destination. One would assume they would be willing to trade #11 for Gortat straight up, this way Crawford takes the place salary-wise of the more valuable (to POR) Matthews.

Trade #2 - Warrick to NOH for Okafor + #10
Why? NOH wants to dump Okafor and we just traded our starting center - plus I've always thought Okafor's D was under-rated. Let's put it this way, he'll put a body on someone down low.

Suns wind up with:

PG - Nash
SG - Crawford / Dudley
SF - Hill / Childress
PF - Morris
C - Okafor / Frye

Interesting. Not sure NO takes that deal though/ If they would, I'd be down for these 2 deals. As for then trading the #13 to Boston for their !sts. Maybe deal #13 with Lopez to ATL for Josh Smith

After watching these playoffs, I am just not a Wade fan. I used to like him, but he has kind of turned into a punk who seems lazy at times. And he feels entitled to get calls.

Sure if he was still as hungry as he used to be and put in that kind of effort all the time, he's about as good as anyone, but you rarely see that any more. I suppose we ought to see it tonight if we are ever going to see it though.

Whenever you have a chance to get one of the 5 best players in the NBA you do it. That's why. That's a whole lot to give up cause we'd still suck with just Wade and nothing else. Those would be some mighty good draft picks, and with Phoenix's luck they'd some how turn into a #1 or #2.

That said, dreaming is free. This has no chance of happening.

I like the rebuild on the fly idea (through accumalation of draft picks) I think that makes a lot of sense under the new CBA, and it's what a smart team would do after 2 years sans playoffs.

Portland, Toronto, NOLA, and Detroit all make great trade partners in my humble opinion.

Lets start with Portland. Gortat is a near perfect center next to LA. Sullinger is not. I don't think it's crazy to think they would offer us #6 for Gortat and a 2nd. Makes sense for both teams.

On to Toronto. We could trade Dudley, along with a wink wink deal with Nash for their draft pick (I think it's 8). Gives the Raptors a great role player, and a hometown hero. 8 isn't a game changer for Colangelo, as he needs some success now.

Hornets. Trade Warrick for Okafor and #10. Yep. It's a big contract....but we get some youth, and lose Warrick.

Pistons....get Ben Gordon and #9 for capspace (hopefully Chilly, but I doubt it)

So that gives us #6, #8, #9, #10, and #13 this year, and a really crappy team for next year that should get us a top 3 pick.

There are still a few moves we could do, but 5 lottery picks would send us in the right direction.

Portland will go Drummond at #6 and PG at #11 IMO. I think their GM said they will keep the picks and rebuild. Gortat to Boston is the most realistic way to get picks IMO. Detroit isn't giving away top 10 picks to save cash. They still have their amnesty clause.

Gortat for two 1sts from the Celtics. Pierce has 2 years left along with Gortat, re-sign KG for 2 years.

wait what? the hornets want to clear cap space and will use their pick as a means to do it. that doesnt mean that we throw in a first rounder for them. give them lopez. he's dead weight to me anyways.....but why would you want to include a pick?
