Oh boy, it seems that you guys have already gone off the cliff.

Just answer BNF's question lol.

@BNF: You never want to be perceived as flipflopper. If you flip from one team, the other fanbase won't view you as a true fan no matter how much you try.

I won't stop you from switching, but there's nothing like supporting a team and actually see them win or get close to winning. You almost feel like you've won something too.

I'm sorry, i dont mean to be a jerk but if your "dark days" as a nets fan are missing out on wall and watching the CDR/Twill era not pan our or trading away favors... i just dont have any sympathy for you.

This is like ho-hum for long time nets fans.

As crazy as it sounds things could be a lot worst. Just hold and see where it goes from here.

No sense in jumping and missing out on what would've have been a great off season, and you missed it. Just think if you jump and the team gets D12, trade for Demar Derozan, and resign Deron.

Now ask yourself is jumping really worth it?

DeMar DeRozan?

That was a rather odd mention.

BTW, DeMar DeRozan is dog ****. Yuck!

To me DeRozan is a small forward and yeah, he straight up sucks and would be a big downgrade from Crash and if Gerald Green wasn't a fluke, he's at best even with him.

A little about me: Being a New Yorker, I was a diehard and loyal Knicks fan most of my life. Just watching horrible front office moves and bad play made me look other places for a new team...during the 09' season I started noticing this young athletic team with great promise that was losing to everybody else In the league...but beating the Knicks! The future looked pretty bright with TWill, CDR, and Brook Lopez. They had the best odds to get the #1 draft pick John Wall...and good odds to sign Lebron James along with another max cat. Add that up with the move to Brooklyn which was only 10 minutes from my job...and I am all In!

So I emotionally invested In the team! Watching every game and even going to see them In person. Had a good young front court of Lopez & Favors along with significant cap space. So obviously I got clowned, laughed at, ridiculed, etc.. About my decision but I stuck by it. I wasn't crazy about the DWill trade without a firm commitment that he was here long term...but I rolled with it. I wasn't to crazy about the D12 trade rumors but thought it would be a good look for the Franchise. Then the Gerald Wallace trade happened:-( I remember almost having a nervous break down reading that Billy King just traded OUR 1st round pick! NOT HOUSTON'S PICK! But our pick Top 3 protected!

So now things are looking very grim and I don't know if I should just abandon this team for the same reasons I left the Knicks! Is there light at the end of the tunnel? Assume the worst case scenario of losing DWill & Wallace this offseason. What now? What do I root for? Please help

Not hating on the Nets (I'm from Bklyn, I wish them well), but in my opinion, you need to look at yourself, not the teams you want to cheer for. If you're seriousl about loving the Nets then you should hang in there....thats part of becoming a diehard fan....to be there through the good and the bad, not just when its conveinent. I believe those who are loving the Bklyn Nets right now as their very first basketball team is lucky and in years to come, may prove to be very proud of their franchise while those who have always been a diehard Nets fan may be blessed and their often losing past changed with new hope and respect with a great arena, front office and team and becoming a perenial playoff team for years to come an renewing a rivalry with the Knicks.

I understand your frustration with the Knicks, I still remain frustrated as we speak but for some reason when you truly love something, you try to hang in there as long as you can. You already found it in your heart to bail on the Knicks and found a new love in the Nets, so don't look back now, the Nets have just begun, hanging in there now will only strengthen you love for the Nets.

Hang in there and good luck! I'm sure there will be a lot of Knick fans joing you in cheering for the Nets this upcoming season and who knows how many into the future.

This pretty much. I don't understand people who jump ship, but that's just my character. I was born in BK and lived there a few years growing up (pink houses). I will route for BK Nets, except when they play Knicks, I plan to be loyal to them also, no matter how much they suck (had to endure a decade of it with Knicks). If you are a fan, you have to be a FAN (fanatic) if not you won't ever be able to truly enjoy when your team does well, the riders will. Its like a marriage, there will be good times, there will be bad, I know that sounds silly since divorce rate is so high, but you have to really have that loyalty built in you. Take me I can't help to be a "homer" I still believe Amar'e can work with Melo (as long as he focuses more on D under Woodson). Being a True Fan is blind, you kinda just have to ride! If not just be a casual fan, its less heartbreaking I would imagine.

To be a true fan does not require that one be a homer. Rather, I'd describe it as one who fully understands the flaws and weaknesses of his team, but nevertheless accepts them and continues to support them.

To Speedy, I never said you have to be a "homer" I only admitted that I sometimes think as a "homer". I do see our teams flaws, but I'm going to ride regardless of what they are (rebounding, smart effective play from our sixth man, defense has improved, but a few obvious guys on our team has work to do this off season) I just don't see the need to beat a dead horse or bashing our players, but again that's just my character. My advice is ride no matter how painful and at the end of the season, if your team is not where you hopedfor them to be "we'llget em next year". Otherwise just keep it casual.
