Unless you can swing a deal for someone like Bynum, I'd be hesitant to break that trio apart. They lock down the perimeter as good as any team in the NBA while making us one of the better transition teams in the league. That's a piece to a championship puzzle and I honestly believe we have enough young talent and cap flexibility outside of JIT to become a better, more well-rounded team this off-season.

If Brand gets amnestied, and we are unable to lure guys like Harden and Deron to Philly, then I'd make a strong push for Ryan Anderson and Asik. Two solid young big men that make us better on both sides of the ball. Anderson's shooting complements JIT perfectly and he's an underrated rebounder/scorer in the paint. Asik is a solid post defender who clogs the lane like few others can. They are the two guys I'd hope get strong consideration as they complement our core and actually make us a better team... Humphries and Kaman wouldn't be terrible contingency options.

Let Hawes walk

I would also let Lou walk if he opts out and see if Andre Miller/Hinrich want to run our 2nd unit for a low $ deal. If we have enough $ left, make a play for CJ Miles.

Holiday/Miller
Turner/Meeks
Iguodala/Miles
Anderson/Young/Allen
Asik/Vucevic

If Philly cannot make a bigger splash like you suggested, I would be OK with some of this, although Asik does little for me other than as a possible rotational big man. R. Anderson seems to be polarizing, but I like his game, particularly on this team as it is currently constituted. I think you have to be much better in the middle however, if you start JTI and Anderson. If you are going that route, I wonder what it would take to get M. Gortat from Phoenix. No stud by any stretch, but I'd much rather have him than Asik and I doubt that he would cost a mint.

[quote="SJSF"]Jefferson in a trade for Iggy
Brand Amnestied and McGee signed.

Jrue, Turner, MLE for SF, Jefferson , and McGee. Thad, Allen, Vucevic, Meeks from Bench. WE also have a draft pick also.[/quote
i like the sound of this, if we got cj miles on a sign and trade and then maybe moultrie in the draft, we would be looking pretty good.

^^^that. Gotta start somewhere if the other option of getting a superstar via trade or FA isn't available. Franchise needs a direction, which isn't there at the moment.

They should trade for draft picks, stock pile as many young talent as possible, and either:
1. hope one of them becomes the star player they desperately need
2. use them as trade assets when a star player becomes available

You, sir, know what you're talking about.

51X3RF4N wrote:Agreed with the above on some levels. Jefferson at PF and Lavoy at C works for me, but not full time. Lavoy is not ready to start and play 36mpg yet. I think you need to play Jefferson/Lavoy, and bring in 2 quality players off the bench. 1 can be Vuc, who will likely improve going into next season. He's the offensive piece who plays Center. So, you need a defensive minded PF who can occasionally play next to Jefferson in the lineup.

That's where I think you need to draft a guy like John Henson. He's a great defender and shot blocker. He's legit 6'11 and LONG. He's going to need to add weight and muscle, but there's nothing about his career at UNC that proves he can't do that with time. He changed dramatically in his 3 years at UNC. I know he's projected at #9 to the Pistons, so you'll need to get into the top 8 to nab him.

Iggy for Jefferson and Watson, then Brand amnestied and use that money to sign Lavoy and a free agent SF who plays D. Then Turner, #15, 2nd round pick, and future 2nd round pick for Matthews and #6?

Jrue/Watson
Matthews/Meeks
Free Agent/S. Young
Jefferson/Henson
Lavoy/Vucevic

Can it be done? Is it not a good lineup? I personally think Jrue/Matthews is a good combo, and Jefferson/Lavoy is too. And the bench would look nice IMO.

Just replace Jefferson with Sullinger and I'm down.
Trade Iguodala for youth, not a lateral(at best) move for a similarly aged player...

Good post.

I feel like we already play championship-level defense with Jrue, Iggy, and Turner - we need additional offensive threats.

Sixerfan,

Have you heard anything about Toronto's interest in Iguodala as reported by ESPN and hoopshype.com? Hoopshype suggests Toronto maybe willing to package Ed Davis, Bargnani, and the 8th pick. I like this potential deal better than Utah or GS.

I don't know if it would be Bargnani but rather Calderon which I don't really care for.

The Bargs part was for Gay. I bet if it's Andre, they package Jose instead. LOL

I just have to say this about this offseason: We have a LOT of options! We have a chance to do something big and put this team on track for an amazing future. OR it could all get screwed up. Let's hope the people getting the big bucks know what they are doing.

just responded in other thread...its Calderon, Davis and 8 for Iguodala and 15 that was their offer. We asked about Bargnani and were rejected. Told them we would get back to them later in month

I'd rather keep our 15 and take a lesser player than Davis.
