I hope your order is right. I think MKG is the best fit and the best player after Davis.

That's what their team forums voted for. Was a bit surprised myself (more that it was a landslide, then that Robinson and Beal were their choices). Don't want to skew the vote, but I was rather high on Kidd-Gilchrist, myself. Still, there's a few options that Cleveland could go here.

The easy answer is MKG here. The Cavs brass is flat out in love with him.

As I mentioned in the other topic.......would not be shocked if MKG slips to 4 based on the needs of Charlotte and Washington

If your order comes to pass, then I think the Cavs would do cartwheels and take all of about 20 seconds to announce MKG as their pick, but we shall see. The wildcard is what Charlotte does? If Charlotte takes Robinson then that leaves either Beal or MKG for the Cavs, if Beal and MKG are both gone I think the Cavs will go Barnes or try to trade maybe 4 and 24 to portalnd for 6 and 11 with the cavs maybe throwing in a2nd rounder as well. Portland is high on Drummond, the problem is then maybe Sacramento takes Barnes at 5 which could gives us maybe Lamb at 6 and try to get a big or small forward at 11. This is just crazy thinking but you never know what will happen.

I voted for MKG.

Seeing Zellers or Rivers as options on your pool makes me want to vomit.

So you're Gilbert sitting there at 4. You just watched your franchise implode a couple years ago, when your star left. You 'lucked' into a new acquiring a new star and now you're in the process of building the team that will make them want to play their entire career here. Who do you take?

Best available include MKG, Lamb, and Barnes. All fill huge needs on the team, and all are reasonably close in overall value, each of them with a few flaws. Of course only one of them is Kyrie Irving's best friend and "big brother".

I like Lamb best (MKG's stroke is just going to kill him) but, if I'm Gilbert I don't see how I could pass on Barnes.

I hope Gilbert trusts his basketball people and leaves the decision making to them. I mean, he may well be in agreement with them, and I would assume he knows a thing or two about basketball, but he hired Grant, Scott, and others to handle the basketball operations and that includes talent procurement.
Dont get me wrong, I love Gilbert as an owner, and enjoy his enthusiam and passion for the team but I dont believe he is a reliable talent scout, at least not as reliable as Grant and Scott.
As for me, I would go with MKG, Beal, then Barnes in that order, but I would be looking for an 2 guard with an outside shot at 24, or in the 2nd round (Jenkins?) if MKG was the first pick.

Never a good idea to draft best friends on the same team. It's much easier to bypass a friend than it is to trade him later. Far less traumatic

MKG looks like a project. He won't be a good scorer. Cleveland doesn't have any. You don't want Kyrie being the leading scorer. Harrison Barnes is the safest pick. The kid is a natural shooter/scorer. He's ready to put up 15 16 a night for the Cavs. If your Cleveland, a bad market team. you cant screw up these picks.

Barnes rumors may be swirling but that doesn't mean he'll be available.

Does look like Davis, MKG, Robinson, then us though.

This is exactly what I'm thinking. This team needs more scorers to match OKC, Miami or it will end up like Philly, Indiana - struggling to score.

I still would go MKG, but wont be upset if they go Barnes. I understand the need for scoring and a SF with a consistent outside shot would open the floor for Kyrie, and allow lanes for others to cut to the hoop. Could be a smokescreen though, if the Cavs really want Drummond, and a team like Portland or Toronto really want Barnes this talk could just be the team trying to take advantage of being right at the pivot point of this draft where the talent level starts to drop off a bit.

If this really were the board at the time we pick, I'm going Barnes. Then let the MKG green room drop-watch begin.

Barnes or Andre Drummond should be your pick. A great pg paired with a physically dominant center like Drummond is a no brainer. Drummond and Tristan Thompson paired in the front court makes sense. Fourth more Barnes is the natural scorer on the wing that you all could use as well.

92.3 reports that Beal looked slightly better than Barnes head to head in their workout. Not exactly definative sinse they didn't report what exactly they did or how one looked better than the other. There are things you'd expect to do better because of his length and things you'd expect to do better because he is after all a guard. Not quite apples to apples.

Still think Beal is heading to Washington so it won't matter, but I am concerned that his game is too similar to Irving's. I don't want the two best players on my team trying to do the exact same thing all the time.

I do like Drummond and think Irving could make him work. I like Barnes a lot more though. Hoping to see Irving with two stud Forwards after another year of development.

No Drummond.

I've made up a rule that with lotto picks you can't go with risky picks more often than safe picks.

As of right now we are 1-1. Grab the safe pick this year, develop the players we got and then maybe next year if we are in a good position then go do something potentially stupid.

I think Harrison Barnes would fit your team nicely. A great scorer and a legit #2 option behind Kyrie.

Either that or take a gamble and nab Drummond... and Quincy Miller with #24, and hope MIller pans out to the Durant-Lite he was poised to be.
